"Heads you win - tails I lose" is how I see the relative changes in the £ v € exchange rate. When the pound weakens then the value of my money invested in my Portuguese property goes up but it cost me more to visit and enjoy it. When the pound strengthens then I can enjoy my visits more but the property is worth less (if I wanted to repatriate my investment).
Over the years that I have owned it I've made more on paper than I've lost on visits.
