Walk is now closed.

This is the walk that replaces the one originally scheduled for Monday 5 March. It's a revamp of an old coastal walk we haven't done for some time, but from a restaurant that is new to us.

It is a coastal walk ( not too near the edge for those that don't like heights) with quite a lot of loose scree on the paths. No very steep hills, but quite a lot of short and steepish ups and downs. Return is back along the coast.

It is ESSENTIAL that you indicate below if you can come as numbers will be limited to about 20. Please also state if you want lunch, as I have to make reservations in advance. Thank you.

Degree of difficulty : Probably grade 3

Duration about 2 hours 15 mins.

Meet :Cozinha da Avo.

Start : 1000

Directions: Drive to Carvoeiro Clube de Tennis and then drive straight on for 700m ; the restaurant is on the right. Unfortunately, the cafe is not open in time for an early coffee : if you want one before the walk, the tennis club will be open.

Walking boots/stout trainers recommended and walking poles.

Usual caveats - all walks are at your own risk, and we do not walk if it is pouring with rain...no charge, of course...I will endeavour to put any cancellation note on this site by 0900 on the day of the walk.

Just to say that I have amended this walk to a purely linear one : we'll walk along to coast to Caneiros, and then return.

I had hoped to get a circular walk out of it by coming back through the country...but that was 3 hours including 1 hour on roads!

Trust that's ok with everyone.

Forecast is not good for tuesday, so watch this space for any cancellations please.

Rose, Mags and Bertie never made the starting post, but everyone else did : Frank & Iva took one look at the steepish decline and opted for a gentler stroll along the top & back for an early coffee, but first the group photo on one of the new benches that have recently sprung up along the cliffs:
