Linda and Russell will be leading this walk in 2 x groups of 5 as numbers are limited there are only 8 places available. Social distancing must be adhered to. The walk starts from Café Sociedade Recreativo at the bottom of the hill from the village of Figueira. It is approximately 11kms, therefore 2 1/2 hours. Although it is long there are not many hills. We start the walk by the side of the river and then walk at the side of a levada. Then we head out into the countryside, cross a small river and cut through the pretty hamlet of Poio. Towards the end we head through the village of Figueira. where we can enjoy refreshments on the terrace at one of the cafes. Then it is downhill back to the cars. There is a short vertiginous stretch uphill, but this can be avoided if necessary and there is uneven ground at the side of the levada. There are some stretches walking on tarmac. This is a grade 3, medium.The usual rules apply: wear suitable footwear, bring a drink, walk at your own risk and no charge. There is no cafe at the start of the walk.

Meeting time: 10:00am Directions: Drive West along the N125 past the Alvor turning and the Penina Golf, after approximately 2kms go under a footbridge and immediately turn right into Figueira at the sign "Polidisportivo". Ignore the first sign for Figueira. Park just past the Cafe Sociedade Recreativo Figuerense. The cafe at the start of the walk does not have coffee with milk. Wendy asked if i would check the new regulations as they apply to Algarve conselhos (Elevated risk). So far as i Can see, no conselhos are in a higher risk category.

The rules state:

No restrictions on movement either at week ends or weekdays for any conselhos apart from curfew between 11pm - 5am. Confinement to conselho for 2 holiday periods will apply however from 11pm on Friday 27th November to 5am on Wednesday 2nd December & same restriction between 11pm on Friday 4th December and 5am on Wednesday 9th December. This to cover the public holidays on Tuesday 1st and Tues 8th December. Walk tomorrow is ok but not on 30th November or 7th December.
