This is a new walk into a new valley which is very peaceful with lots of running streams, lakes and even a gorge. Then we climb up the gradual hill to the top of the ridge to enjoy views over the hills towards Monchique. The walk is around 10kms not too difficult but there is a downhill stretch on uneven ground. There are a few water crossings with stepping stones so bring walking poles if you have them. Linda is leading this walk and numbers are limited to 2 x groups of 5 or 6. The usual rules apply: wear suitable footwear, bring a drink, no charge, walk at your own risk and respect social distancing rules.

We meet at Cafe Ruby in Figueira and then drive for 5 minutes to the start of the walk. Meeting time: 10.00am. The cafe should be open for a coffee at the start. We will then drive past the restaurant Solar Do Farelo, and along the CM1145 for 500 metres for the start of the walk, parking is limited there.

Directions to Cafe Ruby: Drive along the N125 West, past Alvor turning, about 2kms further on at the 2nd small roundabout with a sign for Figueira turn right, then right again, up the hill. At the small crossroads with the mirrors turn left. Cafe Ruby is about 200metres along on the right hand side. Parking is on the opposite side or just after the Cafe. I assume this will have to be cancelled in view of the new regulations. Physical exercise is permitted but I can’t see that meeting in a group would be allowed, although I can’t see anything specific about this.

Yes Mike we cannot walk in a group now. We have been lucky to do so for the last few weeks. Hope you got the bike fixed so you can cycle for your exercise. Stay safe, hopefully we will see you all in a few weeks.
