Re: IMI
I suspect that you may be planning a little far ahead but in due course the 2020 rates will be visible at https://www.portaldasfinancas.gov.pt/pt ... MIForm.jsp Hi Richard, many thanks for your prompt response. I think there is a difference in our understanding of the payment schedule for IMI. My u...

Re: IMI
Can someone please tell me what the IMI rate for 2020 was fixed at for Lagoa? That is, in respect of the payments that will be payable in 2021. The rate for 2019 was 0.36% and from what I've been able to find, it seems the 2020 rate may have been slightly reduced. Any help gratefully received! Thank...

Rogue lawyer - yet another one!
In the last few days I have discovered that my rogue of a lawyer (who is also my "Fiscal Rep") with whom I have been dealing for 10+ years, has made off with over €1,400 IMI and IMIA payments that I've made to him but which he has failed to pass on to Finanças ! Faint hope I know, but is there anywh...

AL licence (per se) no longer required?????
Does anyone have a view on this? http://www.rentinthealgarve.co.uk/portugal_rental_licence_alojamento_local.html The following is a quote from the site:- Quote "There is no longer a 'licence' as such. One is required to register a “Local Lodging” activity, by written notification to the Mayor of the...

Oh dear! This:

Re: Changes to the reporting of letting income
Many thanks Biffa, I'l pursue that suggestion! Wouldn't the UK company or Mexican Pete get clobbered under HMRC's benefits in kind rules, assuming that the UK company is his? My understanding is that Gordon Brown resolved this issue while he was still Chancellor and the "benefit in kind rules" no lo...

Re: Changes to the reporting of letting income
For perfectly good and valid reasons, we hold our property through a UK company that is the registered owner of the house. Our accountant tells us that because the house is held in this way we are not eligible for the "Simplified Regime" and will continue to be taxed at 25%, less minimal allowable e...

Re: Changes to the reporting of letting income
On the basis that sharing tenants’ personal information with the Portuguese tax authorities would be neither “reasonable” nor “expected”, I believe it may very well be breach of the Data Protection Act to do so. Does anyone else have an opinion? Also, out of interest, are any of you who hold tenant ...

Re: Changes to the reporting of letting income
Richard,
According to Biffa, (see other thread on this topic) it will be "only effective for 2015" i.e. not for 2014 rentals.

Re: Changes to the reporting of letting income
Is anyone able to tell me the year from which this "Simplified Regime" will be effective? 2014 or 2015?
May appear a dumb question, but I've not been able to find this critical fact anywhere!
Thanks in advance for any help.

Re: PRACTICAL solutions to loss of TV Reception
I can’t speak highly enough of ProjectionDreams; on the strength of pickwick’s post we went over to Almancil last Wednesday, saw the system and paid a deposit then and there. Alistair hoped to get more boxes delivered early this week and, subject to that, expected to be able to install our system to...
