Re: Using uk cars long term in Portugal
Thanks widge, however as the car is classed as classic (over 30 years old) this doesnt apply. Such cars with a FIVA certificate (certified over 30yrs and classic) can be imported without any duty etc and is a much simpler system - fortunately.

Using uk cars long term in Portugal
I know this has been discussed before but I'm only just about to finally do it by bringing a 1989 jaguar over to my house. It is currently insured MOT'd and taxed in uk - overseas use is covered. I've heard so much from so many and I'm still not totally clear of the way to do it, so- 1) Who knows ab...

Re: Pool heating
I have had "free" solar powered heating for my pool since 2009 - works very well and from april through to Oct I get a min of 28C and up to 34C when really sunny in June-sept.. It is by solar "mats" on my roof - water is pumped to them and back to the pool. Problem is you need a flat area of at leas...

Car Ferry to CVO
I know several of you have travelled by ferry from UK to Spain - I am hoping to do so this spring, so what's the recommendations? Portsmouth or Plymouth (I guess the latter as it's only one night)- Is there only one ferry company? - Brittany - which is the best boat? Any tips? what do we need to car...

Re: EDP CHARGES
Further to the saga - as well as getting a bill for €400 for the apr-may period when I wasnt there, I got absolutely nowhere trying to get them to investigate it. I therefore decided to go with Meo and then got a further bill from EDP for the final 35 days of may-June 13th of €251. (I was at my hous...

Re: Portuguese Residency
There is a general lack of correct info on this subject. You certainly dont need to spend 6 mths in PT and it also depends on whether you are going for habitation residence NHR (90 days in 183) or full residency which takes 5 years to achieve. Best is to contact brexit@sef.pt which is the government...

Re: EDP CHARGES
Thanks for the info - I dont have a new type meter but fortunately my neighbours read the meter for me and I have sent it to EDP within the 3 days specified. Interestingly the bill I received was for €401, with a total for the 3 readings given as 1683kwh. The actual readings came to a total of 210kw...
