Re: Skydive
Can't imagine why anyone would want to hurl themselves out of a perfectly serviceable aircraft!

Re: Hop on - Hop off bus
Can't say. I only know what I saw when I was walking to the shop.

Re: Hop on - Hop off bus
Rocha Brava's own minibus runs from reception. The bus stop opposite the coffee shop is new, and I've seen the Rota das Falesias bus using it.

Re: Hop on - Hop off bus
There is a bus-stop just inside the main entrance to Rocha Brava, opposite the coffee shop.

Re: Restaurante O Flamingo
We tried this restaurant for the first time tonight and the meal was excellent. The menu is a little different and I was spoilt for choice. We'll definitely be going back.

Re: Jardin do Farol
Glad all seems well. I'm pretty sure that Francisco's fish offerings were in the €14 range a couple of years ago and are now typically €16. The brothers /sister (as I understand) running front of house haven't changed and perhaps things have settled down out back. I'll have to check in November! We...

Re: Jardins Oliveras - Monchique.
Tried this restaurant today. The location is fantastic. I ordered the roast kid and Lynda had the wild boar, but we shared both. If I'm being picky, the kid was a little tougher than I was expecting, but the wild boar was excellent. The cost for 1 glass of wine and 1 orange juice, couvert, 2 mains, ...

Re: Jardin do Farol
Fair enough. Just a thought. We certainly had no complaints and we'll be going back there in few days. What I found a bit confusing about some of the comments was the reference to Carlos's second wife and a waiter who had left. All the staff in attendance yesterday were the people we have become fam...

Re: Jardin do Farol
Had our meal there tonight and delighted to report that both the food and the service were as good as ever, and not expensive. The restaurant was full but the service did not suffer as consequence. I still cannot understand the previous adverse comments, and I wonder whether there was some confusion...

Re: Jardin do Farol
We've never had a bad meal there in 14 years, and it's always been one of our favourites. I shall be very disappointed if it has indeed gone downhill. We'll still give it a try when we are out in October.

Looking forward to trying this one when we come out in October. Do they have anything unusual on the menu?

Re: Monte Dourado or Rocha Brava
We've have had a property on Rocha Brava for 13 years now and I can highly recommend the location and the management company. I have no experience of Monte Dourado. A lot depends on whether you want to be in the middle of town, or prefer to be somewhere a little quieter, but nevertheless easily acce...

Re: Pronounciation
I think there are probably acceptable variations, just as there are with many uk place names, but we were told several years ago that it was "Carve-where-oo" and we have certainly heard locals pronounce it very much like that.
