Re: solar panel water heater

We were advised that it can be discharged to drain or pool, presume you may be able to recycle it someway, but don't know how. better get another plumber - this guy has NO idea on what he's building/selling. AlgarveEagles info is 100% correct, though our system never ran into "pressure relief", eve...

Re: Delivery carrier for Amazon

...Amazon uses multiple carriers here, depending if it's Express/Normal and where it comes from. You should always put your mobile telephone number on the order - the streetnames and numbers are not enough.
Your question answered: It can be (April 2018) SEUR, MRW or UPS.

Re: Maid's sick pay?

It all seems a rather complicated system with no set rules
...it's as easy as: Have the maid properly registered & pay social security & benefit from social system OR let the maid be "self-employed" & risk fiscal fraud & possible claims in case of accident (her|paying guests|...)

Re: Solar panel schemes ?

@shaz1967: regarding buisness models, there are certain restrictions to make shure it remains personal/private production, bonded to a consumer. EDP is publicing their own solar-systems quite aggressivly: They even had a promo-truck (one out of 20) in carvoeiro-square last week! EDP offers an all-in...

Re: Solar panel schemes ?

@macccasa: the 11Kw plant shown is on-grid since 2012. Payback per kWh is 21ct, for 15 Years. After that, consumation price equals selling price. EDP-payback was around 4000,-€ a Year, more than double the amount of energy consumed in the attached villa. By the way, it's not an EDP-Installation! EDP...

Re: Solar panel schemes ?

There are incentive schemes for photovoltaic systems in Portugal. Look at https://energia.edp.pt/particulares/servicos/solar-energy.aspx for example. Or, as we did, google for "aljezur solar" - and at first hit you will find all info you need. There also was a promotion-truck from edp on the carvoei...

Re: Solar water heating

@alf1956: we just added a 3-way-thermostat, as recommended in the shop, connected hot and cold water and the power-supply for the electric backup-up heater. Only thing: the 300l deposit is very heavy and not easy to handle.

Re: Broadband speeds

DOCSIS is experimental??? It is the protocol used for many years in cablemodems. Portugals Cabovisão is now on DOCSIS 2.x and down here (yes, in CVO...) on DOCSIS 3.0 . They have a Fibreoptic Backbone all over the country and serve certain regions (yes, CVO too!). Just look at their website - or at ...

Re: Broadband speeds

look at http://www.cabovisao.pt - its 100% 360Mbit/s . I use 30Mbit, but could easily upgrade, if I would need that speed....They offer 30, 100, 200 and 360 Mbit/s .
For a deeper view on the technique they use visit: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DOCSIS

Re: Broadband speeds

...on Rua do Barranco you can get up to 360Mbit downstream / 15Mbit upstream from www.cabovisao.pt - at reliable speed. They run a shop in Portimão, where you can order TV/Net/Telephone-packages. I use it for about three years now - no complains.

Do they already have fibre-to-the-home in Carvoeiro? And when yes, where (east,west,..)?
