Guest, We just returned from Algarve and played 5 different courses. All very nice. Richard at the Algarve-golf.co link selected and arranged all courses for the 7 of us. None asked for our handicaps except Boavista and they didn't seem to care what they were, just a routine thing to do. We have han...

Loretta, Much of the USA was covered by a foot of snow this week. However, this was our second or third large snow fall of the year. Usually, the first snow fall as folks sliding all over with their car. Because it has been a few months since they have driven on ice and snow. By this time of year, i...

It is always exciting when there is that possibility of getting catch at it. When my wife and I were young parents, we were traveling home from a weekend away at the in-laws. With two small children away from home, you often don't get time together. The drive is a couple of hours home from the in-la...

Elle, I wonder sometimes if the size of the city or crowding effects folks manners. The attitude: that I don't need to be kind because I will never see this person again. I am living in a small city of 250K in America and grew up in a town of only 1K; very few are rude to anyone. You just might see ...

Elle, I will be surprised if us Yankees don't win most arrogant. I know I am quilty of this. We expect service folks in America to speak and write our English well. We get easily frustrated if our waiter can not speak clear English and call for the manager to come over. Yesterday, my spouse called U...

Ellie, I have not seen Salems Lot. Sounds like a winner. Loved the Green Mile. Glad they got Tom Hanks to do that film. Tom Hanks is another actor that is one of my favorites. Yes, I do live in the States. In Nebraska which is about in the center of country. Presently, we are buried under 10 inches ...

Movie star Jack Nicholson
Surprised no one has mentioned Jack Nicholson among the great actors. He has been around for a long time and appeared in some great classics. Easy Rider, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, The Shining, Terms of Endearment, and A Few Good Men. These movies show him in various types of roles. Recent wor...

I love the game of golf so it was tough reading what Rod said. I have to agree with him on the things he says. Golf has become business and big corporate golf clubs are going in everywhere. Often built with one large clubhouse and two, three courses around them. You just finish one round, eat, play ...

Anyone gone to the Ovibeja before?
This will be my first visit to the Algarve. On the drive down from Lisboa, it looks good to go thru Evora and Beja. I understand there is an event in Beja in mid-March (when we plan to come to CVO) called Ovibeja.
Has anyone ever attended it and is it worth a look?
