I found the following results ( all figures exclude IVA) Goldenegy EDP Potencia per day 1.8833 1.5281 Vazia unit cost 0.0933 0.1078 Fora de vazia unit cost 0.1939 0.1627 These figures are for a 20...

Re: Electricity Prices
I switched last year from EDP to Goldenergy based on the figures quoted by the sales agent and confirmation that these included IVA. It turned out that they did not include IVA - misleading or misunderstanding? Also the quoted discount did not apply to the standing charge and this actually proved to...

Re: Local Garages
I can recommend Arthur Madeira at Mexilhoeiro da Carregaçao which is between Estombar and Parchal. I started taking my BMW to him for jobs I did not want to do after I decided to no longer pay main dealer prices. His workshop does not look much from the outside but on the inside is very clean and ti...

Re: Cecol Accountants
Good luck getting your digital key to work. I have been on two occasions to my nearest Espaço Cidadao to try and sort the problem out but despite going through the registration process I can't get access. I believe that these offices are now only open to visits by appointment under the latest restri...

Re: Sneaky addition to Covid-19 rules
Sorry I missed out an important word. The weekend restrictions apply of course to the very high and extreme categories and not the high category.

Re: Sneaky addition to Covid-19 rules
Under the latest decree there are now four categories of risk - moderate, high, very high and extreme. The weekend restriction on travel only applies to municpalities in the high and extreme categories. Lagoa is in the high risk category as is Portimao. Silves is in the moderate category. A useful S...

Re: Use of cash
The privacy laws in Portugal limit the use of cameras to film people without their permission so maybe this is a consideration. I would have liked to install a dashcam in my car but it is illegal to capture images of the public road let alone other vehicles and their drivers.

Re: Fibre optic broadband
A technician duly appeared today and belatedly the cables were put underground and the internet was reconnected. I think that MEO must temporarlily boost your speed after their work because when I ran a speed check I got 216 gps dowload and 119 gbs upload. Finally got the car back onto the property ...

Re: Fibre optic broadband
In the absence of any action I visited the MEO shop again on Monday with photos of the hole in my drive and the cable going over the ground up to my house. One of their agents filed a further report on their computer system and also advised me to phone the helpline to complain. I phoned up and after ...

Re: Fibre optic broadband
My son and I visited the MEO shop in Portimao on 13 July and filled in a complaint form. This was not the Complaints Book because we were advised that it would take weeks to get an answer but an internal complaints process which we were told would guarantee a response in 3 days. The only response wa...

Re: Fibre optic broadband
Typical MEO. 9 days later they still have not returned to run the cable underground despite phone calls and visits from my son. One car cannot get off the property and one cannot get on! Off to Portimao to sign the complaints book on Monday.

Re: Fibre optic broadband
I live off Rua do Brasil near the dangerous cross roads and after a couple of false starts I finally got my MEO fibre installed last week. The speed is excellent and I am currently getting upload and download speeds of around 120 mbps compared with my previous speed of 9 or 10 mbps at a lower monthl...

Re: Polishing Stone floors
Stone floors can be polished fairly easily. You can see examples on YouTube. I bought a second hand buffing machine and 3 diamond cutting pads to cut the surface back to a smooth finish . I then polished it up to a bright shine with some yellow powder called Mira Dust. The results I obtained were be...
