Re: O Pescador - new owner!

I warmly welcome the new Pescador to the very short list of restaurants in the Carvoeiro area that are worth eating in. They offer quality, simpatia and value for money with a great view and nice décor to boot.

Re: Julio's, Chef Antonio,Bon Bon etc

How has Bon Bon ended up in the same thread at Julio's and Chef António - WTF? Bon Bon, now more than ever, is in a different league, not only to these two but to any other restaurant in town.

Nice quote from the internet on the origin of Vindaloo by the way.
I can assure that the quote is not from the internet but from experience. But obviously it would be online as it is fact.

Re: Indian Restaurant

Rolf66 is spot on IMO, the food is good by British high street standards and if that is all people know then it is fair to say that they are better than the average UK crap. But go to parts of Birmingham, Brick Lane in London or somewhere like Bradford as he suggests and you will eat Indian food coo...

Re: Rei das praias

Graham is spot on, RDP is not an expensive restaurant, it is just the ingredients. Compare it to Onze in Carvoeiro where a bit of fish can cost you 35 euros and it's a bargain. Re Emm's comment on the red prawn (assume you mean scarlet prawn i.e. carabineiro) this is the most expensive seafood you c...

Re: Indian Restaurant

We went there once last year and have not bothered since. Nice people and the food was OK but certainly not authentic. Our choice for the best of a bad bunch of Indian restaurants in the area is the little place on restaurant hill in town. Owned by the same guy who has the Castello but the food at t...

Re: Estate agents

Just a note here as a new poster. Why are you lot so touchy? I ask about estate agents and am accused of having an axe to grind, someone smelling a rat etc. Then I give a comment on a restaurant on another branch and someone (I think it was even the same person) accuses me having a vested interest. ...

Re: Elle & ella

as most restaurants in Carvoeiro are such crap That's a very sweeping generalisation clearly based on your biased' opinion and the absence of any comments by you on other specific eating establishments. I might be forced to make an even greater sweeping generalisation that you have a vested interes...

Re: Estate agents

Oh dear, sorry if you all got the wrong impression. I am just thinking of putting our house on the market and also have a family member who is looking to buy here. I myself dealt with Mike Clark of Carlton Properties when we purchased our house and can certainly recommend him, but we have had no dea...

Re: CHINESE IN CARVOEIRO TOWN

If anyone wants to eat to eat good chinese food in the Algarve there is only one place - Zu Yi on Vilamoura Marina (the one closest to the Tivoli Marina). We go often for lunch and make a dim sum menu from the excellent selection of starters that include home made siu mai dumplings, great sesame pra...

Re: Rei das praias

I'm with the general consensus, without a doubt one of the best restaurants in the area. There is nothing in Carvoeiro (from a traditional / fish point of view) to come even close to it. For a real treat try the scarlet prawns (Carabineiros). Great wine selection as well. The fact it is always so bu...

Re: Pimenta Preta - Palm Gardens

In my opinion this is the only remotely interesting restaurant in Carvoeiro from the point of view of anyone who has more that a passing interest in food. I go there often and although some dishes fall short of the mark what I like about it is that the chef is always innovating, trying new technique...

To each their own - (as long standing Carvoeiroans) we will never go near the place again :)
Well it has to be taken in perspective as most restaurants in Carvoeiro are such crap. But we always get a decent meal in Ele & Ela.
