Re: Tax on rental income
Thanks Richard, if you have access to this document then why is my tax representatives so unsure as to what is and is not an allowable deductible expense. Not that I find the above easy to understand myself.

Re: Tax on rental income
I'm totally confused. It's no wonder the country is in a mess. It seems no one has any idea of how to manage anything. Why is there not a list of tax deductible items, it can't be so difficult for the tax office to produce.

Re: Tax on rental income
Hi, thanks for the advice but apart from the rental income on the house we don't earn any income in Portugal. My husband works in London and pays tax in the UK. The house is going to be used by us and family only. Hopefully next year we won't have to fill out a tax return. We used tax angels this ye...

Re: Tax on rental income
Hi We have decided we are going to use our home for family holidays. We have toyed with the idea of renting our property out but our experience so far has totally put us off. There doesn't appear to be any benefit whatsoever. Still, we're looking forward to getting our renovations completed and enjo...

Re: Tax on rental income
Thanks for your reply. We have just told the tax representative (before we received this reply) to include cleaning, laundry and repair/maintenance. I presume we will get it knocked back. We have been told by our tax rep that we will have to resubmit our return and will get fined if we have submitte...

Tax on rental income
Hi Can anyone help please. We bought a home in Carverio last year which was at that time being rented out through a management company. The contract with them ended in October and we started repairs / renovations work. The rental company, paid tax on our property before they settled the accounts wit...

Re: Vinyl pool
Thanks very much I will ring I when I am in Carvoeiro next week. Did you need to employ an architect or did the builder arrange everything, including obtaining planning permission.

Re: Vinyl pool
Thanks for that information, I had assumed the price they quote would have included digging the hole, removing the rubbish and filling the pool. I would have thought that when they had finished the pool would have been filled and ready to use. We are also wanting some landscaping doing and an outdoo...

Re: Vinyl pool
Yes Thank you, my husband says that is what it is. We are back in the Algarve next week so we will have a look at some pool companies then. I was just trying to get some idea of what it would cost and what would be included with the pool purchase.

Vinyl pool
Hi, can anyone tell me how much I should expect to pay for a ready formed 8x4 in ground vinyl pool. Also would the pool company be able to sort planning permission and would I require an architect or would everything be done by the pool company. Thanks.

We have just bought a house in Carvoeiro and since I will be spending lots of time here in the future I'm looking for things to do with my time. I wondered if anyone played mahjong.

Fiscal representative
Hi, can anyone tell me: Do non residents need a fiscal representative? We have bought a property and we are obliged to honour the rental agreement until the end of the year, after which we will keep it for ourselves. As this is only going to cover a few months after completion (4 at most), I am worr...

Re: Electric Eco radiators
If you google Eco electric radiators ( sold in the UK). You will see they are electric radiators which look very much like conventional Gas radiators, very slim, they are both modern and efficient. I don't, know if anyone makes them in Portugal.
