To the person who mentioned they had digital satellite installed recently. Excuse my lack of technical knowledge but we arranged an update recently thru r/brava reception as did many other owners I believe. Have you just done on your own what we did collectively or does it differ. Or is your package the same as ours but digital? My reason for asking is - I don't think the satellite package we have is any good. Can you tell me which channels you have? Many thanks.

I think the complex is suitable for children aged 16, 13 and 10. It is safe enough that you could give the older ones some freedom to go off on their own. There is an internet cafe, swimming pools, tennis and a gym. It depends what the children are into really.

There are villas with private pools on Rocha Brava, but not many. Best bet is contact reception as I don't know how many owners rent them out.

We are two couples from Canada planning a trip to Rocha Brava next February/March (we've never been there before) and would like recommendations from past visitors about accommodations. Do you think it would be better to take two l-bedroom units or one 2-bedroom? Are the luxury units worth the extra? Any recommendations of actual units or areas in the complex to ask for?

I wonder if the people who rent properties on Rocha Brava realise that they are staying in someone's personal holiday home. We reluctantly allow Rocha Brava to let our villa in high season to help with the hefty running costs, but we often have problems caused by the clients.

As a villa owner on Rocha Brava, I wonder if clients who rent the properties are aware that their accommodation is someone's personal holiday home and treat it accordingly, or if they're under the impression that the properties are owned by Rocha Brava. We reluctantly allow Rocha Brava to let our villa in the summer to help with the hefty management and maintenance charges and most years we have problems of some sort caused by guests who have stayed there. Comments welcome.

I have just returned from staying at the Rocha Brava Complex for 2 weeks. I have to say how disappointed I was, the main pool was far too busy, not even enough space to lie on the floor! Be prepared for huge queues in their supermarket. Our apartment was very basic and The staff are quite rude. From Helen

I am so homesick for Rocha Brava and the Algarve after having spent 6 weeks there in Feb and (all of) March. It was wonderful, great weather, warm gentle local people, lots of old friends and many new ones, great wine, super food, flowers everywhere, mimosa, hibiscus, Bermuda buttercups, almond trees in full bloom as well as calla lilies growing wild at the side of the road. Imagine!! We have booked for next year, hopefully at the same place, last 2 weeks of Feb and all of March. We were in a 2 story villa overlooking the sea and hope for the same area again, 612 to 624 or beyond. Too bad we have to wait until August to find out availability. Help? My husband and I just came back from Rocha Brava in Carvoeiro and it was a great resort. We had a villa that was very basic but in beautiful grounds, immaculately kept, lots of different trees, palms, oleander trees (mine here in Ottawa is just a 3' tall shrub that I have to bring indoors for the winter), rosemary bushes (imagine that!). And it was a quiet and relaxing place to have a holiday.

I must recommend the restaurant "Happy's" in Carvoeiro. We ate there 3 times in 1 week, it was that good and very reasonable prices. Their fish and chips are the very best that we have ever had anywhere - it even beats the many fish and chips we've every had in England. We also ate at Catz Pyjamas Pizzeria and that it also a good pizza place. The Oasis Restaurant is recommended for their ribs but I would not recommend their fish dishes - they are soaked in grease, or maybe it is olive oil. Also, their chicken piri-piri was underdone. Beware!

After seeing all the towns/cities around Carvoeiro, we are glad we did not choose to stay in Portimao or Albuferia. Who wants a holiday in "pavementville". We did not want to leave to come home and now I am suffering from post-holiday depression. The Algarve is truly a lovely place and I would recommend it to anyone. Oh and one more note - if you are ever in downtown Faro, in the pedestrian area, don't miss having ice cream at a place called Gelataria Fiesta. They have ice cream in all manner of fruit flavour as well as covered with fruit cocktail or peaches. It is OUT OF THIS WORLD. If evey we go back to the Algarve, we will take a trip to Faro just for that ice cream. Anyways, I better stop although I could write pages of good things about the Algarve. Hope you all love it as we did.

Just stayed 2 weeks at the Rocha Brava and it was brilliant. I would try not to have an apartment opposite RB Cafe as it can be very noisy especially if you have young children and go to bed before midnight. Try the restaurant on the left as you leave the main restaurant. Also recommend restaurant called Algarve 2000 next to Jokers bar, the curries are superb. Would recommend car hire.

We have stayed on rocha brava many times over the last 14 years. Lovely development with 3 swimming pools and beautifully kept gardens. It is a good idea to hire a car if you are staying here, as it is about 5-10 minutes by car to the village. Good restaurant opposite the entrance to rocha brave (Solemar) not cheap, but good food.
