You bet we would

But more seriously:

It must have been awful for you CM, but what worries me a lot more is that they persevered with your place, where neighboring Villas are surely much less secure. I've heard a number of stories of opportunistic thieves in the area visiting holiday homes when guests have left patio doors open and such like but this example of more determined thuggery is alarming (sic).

Did the GNR have any clue as to their identity/nationality ?

It does make you wonder - when you call a taxi the address is broadcast by the dispatcher for anyone with a simple radio kit to pick up - hence very easy to find out who has gone out for the evening :?

Clients of ours were burgled last Wednesday night as well! Pair of trousers, wallet, mobile phone and jewellery was stolen, plus the front door key!!! hoping to come back a guess. We only have a small apartment but reckon they got in over the balcony - hot night doors open... I'd like to put some traps down like in the Home Alone films!!!!

This is a dog alarm that is available in the UK. I wonder how realistic it is?

We have just put our Apartment on the market as we have fallen in love with a new villa, and all the reports of break ins putting us of a bit as our Apartment is very safe.
Any views would be very welcome.
We mentioned this to the Estate Agent who told us that the problem is only if you do not lock up etc, advised us to use a company who looks after whilst you not there as we would not be renting out, said once alarm fitted about 200 euros a month to monitor and look after?

Joanne, we use Securitas and they charged 1500 euros for the equipment and installation one off cost and 200 euros a year for looking after it on a 24 hour basis. You will need a telephone line installed which is about 15 euros a month but you can use it for calls as well, if you you allready have a phone line then you do not need asecond one.

Joanne, we have had our place for 18 months now and touch wood not a problem so far. We have put in armourlite glazing througout the property so you can supposadly hit the glass with a sledge hammer and not break it.

We are putting in alarm system and after I have caught them the crime wave will subside! On a serious note they prey on tourists who dont lock up properly. This situation was made worse because first time round they hit the jackpot, never again will the "jackpot" be left in the villa. It is we believe a gang that move around, Carvoeiro is its target at the moment we are told.

If I catch them look at the webcams on the 22nd ! naked burglars wearing lots of tar and feathers! (golden sryup more likely)

alarms

Post by robmac »

Hello i am new to carvoeiro. com. although i have had a villa in carvoeiro for 7 yrs now. I was broken into just before last xmas, whilst i was was england and did not find out about the break in, until one of my friends went to check on my place. I obviously decided to have an alarm fitted, i had this done by a friendly chap called Paul his company was Response alarms,he is based in Carvoeiro. What was good apart from the service was the alarm that he fitted for us covered all areas required and if was activated due to it being connected our phone line automatically rang our friends who lives about 500m away on there mobile and home line and when we are in portugal the alarm rings us. i do not have his number here in england, but i am sure he advertises in the Portugal news
