Yes, desk very easy to find, excellent Class C car in covered garage immediately adjacent.

The only problem I have is getting out of Lisbon airport - lol - but you probably already have that one sussed!

When I used them the car came from Hertz and the service was good. I tried Hertz at the time and Holiday Auto's was 50% cheaper than going direct even though I am a Gold member with Hertz. Funny old world ain't it.

We used them from Lisbon in July 2006. The car was from Europcars and when we were asked if we wanted a 2 seater - thinking 'sports car' we said yes and we ended up with this Renault which I called a van car (I'm sure there's a proper name) as it had no seats in the back and a mesh behind the front seats. Apart from the bumper being held on by staples, it was fine.

Never tried them from Lisbon, however, we always use them from Faro, never had a problem. Just like logicbob it always works out a whole lot cheaper than going direct with the hire company. We have had cars from Sixth, Europcar, Guerlin, to name but a few. When I asked whether I could get any sort of discount when handing my car back I was told that the hire company could not compete with Holiday Autos, so we always go with them. I hired a small car for a week at new year and it cost us £57. I don't think I could get it any cheaper anywhere else, do you?

Just checked Algarvedriver throught the cvo site against Holidayautos. Admittedly, only for a few days hire with collection at Faro and drop off on cvo. but Algarvedriver was £75 and Holidayautos £84.

Hi all,
I am looking at using holiday Autos out of Faro airport for our trip to Cavoeiro, but want to make sure we get the car at the airport and that we don't have to jump on a mini bus to take us down the main road.

Can anyone let me know if holiday autos pick ups are in the area to the right of the airport building (throught the doors to the right under the canopys). If not can anyone tell me which companys are there.

Thanks

Hi Avidblue and welcome. Go to the homepage of this site and click on Algarvedriver. Forum members get a discount and the cars are a short walk from the terminal in Carpark 4. You return them there as well and just leave the keys.

Yes but they will charge you a little extra depending on the car that you rent.

Holiday autos are not a car rental company but a booking agent who will arrange for the hire with ine of the big hire companies , usually Europecar or Guerin (formerly National). You will find out which comapany when you get the confirmation.

Both Guerin and Europecar are in the canopied area and you will be able to pick up your car from them there. However on return if you are returning during the day you will be asked to return it to their depots that are on the road into the airport and will then be bused in. You need to allow an extra 30mins for this exercise.

If you use H.A. do take their extra insurance to cover the waiver and then remember to decline it when the actual hire company try to sell it you again at 3 times the price when you collect the car. Also do check the car over on receipt and make sure it has a radio aerial and hi-vis vests or they will charge you for them on return (personal experience!). Both these companies can also be very picky over scratches on the car and wheels.

Hope this helps.

I noticed I keep harping on about Algarvedrive. I have no vested interest it's simply that we have used them several times and have found the service to be very good and the pricing even better. :)

we have used holiday autos once and they booked the car through Avis. We did hire a car in Lisbon earlier this year and returned it to Faro - this was through Avis - they upgraded the car as they knew we were travelling down to the Algarve - at no extra cost. Avis are slightly more expensive on some occasions. There was an extra charge for picking up at one destination and leaving at another but the cost of the flights was so much lower doing it this way so it more than compensated.
