Moderators ...where and how much?

I am curious to know, where was the job of moderator advertised?
what are the qualifications for such high office?
when were the interviews held?
do they get paid?
or do they do it for lurve?

looking forward to hearing the answers?

Hi Martin

I think you will find that it is a bit like the New Years' Honours List, it is a title that is bestowed on those the governing body feel are worthy.

p.s. I am a moderator on a greek travel forum (a phpBB one such as this) and I was simply made moderator one day and informed by PM, the reason given being that I was the person who was answering most of the questions. Only a couple of rules on there, we delete one off posts by Guests simply advertising their businesses. Secondly we comment in a thread if the same IP is being used to make and support argument. Thirdly we would comment within a thread "the moderators do not think that personal abuse is an acceptable counter argument to whatever". Never yet had to then warn by PM or ban, but guess I would if it persisted.

where do moderators, moderate from please? is there an office in Cvo. where we can visit them?.... And do the moderators also have the powers to patrol all the bars and restaurants to moderate our alcohol consumption

Guest, you can find this particular moderator in Rocha Brava Coffee Shop most nights - either getting pissed or having a chicken curry (or sometimes doing both

Oh so quite a lot of us then have either all the qualifications or are only missing the first one, somehow I think my explanation made more sense, yours G takes in half the forum members (who were also here in the messageboard days), either that or you are suggesting that the rest of do not 'try' to contribute constructively - and of course you would never say that!!!!

So it seems that if are to put anything "explosive" we must do so in the evening when our M & M are busy.

may we also ask...do you wear a badge so we can know you..perhaps a small enamled thing- inscribed with a short message..."moderation in all things" or perhaps "the first cut is the deepest"

- The qualifications only our almighty webmastro can define.

As for id, I was thinking of something down the lines of t-shirts - "moderation in all things" - I dont know if that is true, sometimes things do require a sharp blow to the head to sort out.

Looking back at the overall reaction, I think the best slogan would be "Ignorance is bliss"

On previous visits, we used to check our e-mail at a downstairs bar located just a block or two above the square on the incoming street. Invariably, there was a chap seated at a table in the corner beside the bar operating a notebook PC. I always vaguely assumed that he probably was the mysterious "Steen", though we never spoke to him. The bartender always set us up.

Was I correct about this?

And how can Ktee moderate from the RB Coffee Shop? I always found their internet service rather slow and prone to breakdown.
Toasties were good though. (And best wishes Ktee.)

We are looking forward to the CVO and RB experience next month. The webcam says +30 degrees there today - it's minus 25 here today. Brrrrr!

Sorry it's Gambrinus who can be found at Rocha Brava snack bar not me! I doubt he uses their internet though!

It isn't Steen who sits in the comput@s bar at the laptop, sorry.

I think with a few exceptions that Steen can be found in France, but what a lovely thought of sitting in the RB Cafe having coffee or a few beers plus a toastie or chicken curry or one of their crepes....bliss. We use it most lunchtimes when we are out, never fails. What's the name of the manager there now, we get on with her very well and she remembers us from Sullys. Last time we were up there was a Monday last September and Ilze was strutting her stuff! RB was packed and very good atmosphere but Ilze looked well off the pace, hope she's ok.
