Went to Modelo this afternoon, NO fish or meat at all, and many other items very low. No fuel in Lagoa and Cepsa Carvoeiro think they may run out this evening. So not looking good at all at the minute !

They are out of diesel though aren't they and the queue is quite long! My dad filled up and they told him they think are going to run out tonight!
Went shopping earlier today to Pingo Doce and they were out of most fresh produce! Sounds like most shops are now! Nightmare.

I guess it will be beer, wine, and tins of beans when I get to the Intermarche tomorrow night then. Unless there has been a panic buy of alcohol and beans...

...that's if there is car at the airport with enough petrol to get me there.

I suppose it could be worse (?).

Any idea when things might get better? Due to fly in on Saturday morning as a party of 6... if there is no fuel for hire car we will eventually find a way to get to Carvoeiro... but I have a 2 yr old and want to make sure we will be able to get basics like water?

The strike was suspended last night as a sign of good will, but the negotiations with the government will continue over the next days.

My daughter is over at our place until Saturday with five friends, they hired two small cars and were getting a little worried about keeping enough petrol in the cars to make sure they could get back to the airport, especially as one of them goes home tomorrow so they will need to to take him to the airport. Luckily on there way into cvo today they found petrol and have filled the cars. No more worries in that respect at least.

There are talks going on regarding the planned walkout of Shell drivers at 6 am tomorrow, here in UK...hopefully it wil be avoided. But believe the government has contingency plans to bring in the army if need be.

Im glad your lorry drivers strike has been suspended

For the last few months we have been trying never to let the tanks go less that 3/4 full.

Hmm... Back here in the West of Scotland, I am a 70 mile round trip to the nearest bank, supermarket or petrol station... it costs me two gallons of petrol just to go and buy one!

At least my wine cellar is full, so no fuel worries there!!!

And I have pleanty of smoked salmon in the chiller

I returned from CVO on Tuesday and everything semed normal (as it can get)

Hopefully the appropriate government minister will find it problematic to find motion lotion for his ministerial car, then something might just miraculously happen to resolve the issue!

Mean while, back to the smoked salmon and champagne!
