Opening?

Post by logicienne »

we are looking at possibly coming over to Carvoeiro in Oct, but have been told that the season ends in Sep and nothing will be left open ( ie restaurants etc ). Is this true?

No - not true. Things slow down at the end of October after the half term - but even then many of the bars and restaurants are open throughout the winter.

 We nearly always go out in October/November and have found all the restaurants open, no problem. It is around December/January you will find that they close but even then there are enough still open to have a really good meal somewhere. Have a great trip October is a lovely time to be out there.

I agree...we always come out at the beginning of Oct...and usually again in November. I think it's a much nicer place then.....and you can park your car!

Thanks to all that have replied so far...one more thing...is it still reasonably hot or do I need to pack a jumper or two?

Just for the evening. I also bring a lightweight showerproof jacket....just in case.

Depends - some years it is very warm, others it can be a little colder. Generally nice during the day but you will probably need a sweater in the early morning and evenings.

October sees the start of major road redevelopment i.e. pedestrianisation of the square and leading roads, so it may be a bit chaotic.

Oh dear - I was hoping that I could get out for a couple of days during half term before all that started!

fmm, assuming its going to be done by Portuguese developers, I wouldn't worry. Work probably won't start till late November.

It took them 6 months to re-do the mini roundabout and road down to Centiannes Beach. Mind you, they made a nice job of it!

OCTOBER

Post by april »

We came out in Oct last year thinking it would be warm and pleasant.......but it was scorching and we swam every day - proper swimming in the sea not just a quick dip!!! Luch outside in the square and lovely evenings in the garden or in restaurants. Enjoy!
