Hub goes wild for a cheese (strong Cheddar) & beetroot sarnie!
What does it do to your bodily functions? You've got me worried?
Ive just googled it and beetroot is loaded with vitamins and good things.

Re: Good Luck message
Thank you! Well, finally, after much red tape, "it will be here Thursday" - but then not telling you WHICH Thursday, deliveries not arriving, - It is finally here and up and running now.ken4lynda wrote:THE SMOKEHOUSE CARVOEIRO
Wishing you all the very best in your new buisness and for your new life in Portugal with much love to you all from The Brenners xxxl
Heini - that's why Simon has not had the time to check out the competition entries, been too busy getting smoke up that there chimney over nr Armaçao. He goes back to the UK at the end of this week for a month, so am sure he will catch up then. Sorry (though I do recall him mentioning beetroot, but could be wrong as I have been eating, smelling, living, typing, everything about smoked food these past few weeks). So come on you lovely people, pay us a visit.

Beetroot! I just love it. Already pickled 14 Kilner jars full ready for the winter and keep a pot filled up over the summer for eating with salads. It's wonderful as a hot veg as well. Someone said in an earlier post that is was 'the food of the devil' - well I must have a huge forked tail and great big horns!
I may even pull a few roots and bring them with me when I come out on Thursday! The only beetroot I can find in CVO is already cooked stuff from Intermarche which ois OK but can't beat home-grown.
I will definitely be visiting Blue Rock and will try out some of the smoked specialities from the Armacao smokery.

Hi'yall
At last the August results for the competition..... There seems to be much more interest going on now, and some brilliant ideas going around. I tried the smoked pawns and boursin recipe... yum, I loved it, but for sheer innovation and one that has created quite a talking point, it has to be the recipe using beetroot. I must admit, at first I was not convinced that it was going to work, but what a pleasant surprise, well done baggysallyjane:D PM me and we will arrange for a goody box for you.
OK, for the next competition, lets try something a little different... Confession time for some... by the 1st October, lets hear about the most embarrasing faux pas at a dinner party, you have experienced... A well earned selection of smoked goodies for the best!
!!!
Cheers,
Simon.
