The hardest phrase in the English language to use is: "yes, I was wrong". I checked with Mr. Webster's unabridged dictionary and there it was. Spelt..past tense and participle of spell. But also the word spelt has other meanings, such as: to split....a splinter....and a species of grain called German wheat. I'll have to admit Guest you were right in your use of spelt, but think I will stick with spelled with its singular meaning...Best Regards...Will 2. :)

Just curious Will2:

"somewhere in the western Hemisphere" - I was under the impression, that there are only two hemispheres, northern and southern (no offence, the subject just forced it out of me :D .)?
Please advise

Yes Gambrinus, you are right in what you say. Another classification of the surface divides the earth into the Eastern Hemisphere and the Western Hemisphere, the former comprising Africa, Asia, Australia, and Europe, and the latter containing North and South America. I hope this will satisfy your curious mind. Best regards to you from Will 2 in the "Western Hemisphere". :)

I aint being funny (as they say in S. London [I hope Ellie’s watching]) but
my Oxford (talking CD rom) Dictionary says:

Either of the halves of the earth, esp. as divided by the equator (Northern hemisphere, Southern hemisphere) or longitudinally (Eastern hemisphere, Western hemisphere)

I am dyslexic and find reading very difficult. Why do people want to make fun of people who are handicapped

Thx guys, guess I just learned something :)

Re: Dyslexia and other handicaps.
I am not dyslexic, but I have terrible eyesight, surely a handicap in its own right.
Grew up with people making fun of me, especially of the glasses I was forced to wear (I could have used the bottom of coke bottles for contacts).
Learned to live with it and learned that most people making fun of me were just trying to distract from their own defects, which often included lack of intelligence.

In my experience, it’s the one with defective hearing who really get the piss taken out of him. But I’m learning to live with it.
