Re: Easyjet and API
Ryanair did when we flew to Spain at Easter. However, when we initially booked we weren't aware of having to supply such information.Mike,Chislehurst wrote:I... One would guess that Easyjet will notify nearer the date of departure .....

Re: Easyjet and API
Roy4eyes was right, here's the link on the BA which seems to make it quite clear. http://www.britishairways.com/travel/im ... blic/en_gb But how many people are going to turn up at the airport oblivious to this requirement. One would hope that the airlines will make contact with their passengers via the given email address when booking. But how about those travellers that do not have a computer or didn't book online. If someone rang me and requested my passport number and the other info, I'd tell them to clear off, far to sensitive

Hi
Thanks for that, We are flying out in September. I have just been on easyjet.com and it is asking us for this information - just entered our details!

Many, many thanks from me too.
Just popped on the site to make a few notes on supermarkets etc and saw this thread. We booked our Sep flights with Easyjet months ago and haven't had any info from them regarding this matter but on checking our booking low and behold the info is needed. So thankful someone posted about this otherwise I would have been left crying at the airport.

Re: Easyjet and API
So so glad I read this post! I've booked a one way ticket back to England on 5th August for me & my son so I checked my booking today & it's asking for this info. No e-mail from them or anything. One question, 'cos I'm stressing that I've answered it wrong, it asks for the issuing office & gives you a list of countries. My son's passport was issued here in Portugal but I did it through the British Embassy so it's got GBR on it. Do I put Portugal or United Kingdom on it? Sorry if I sound really blonde!!!

Where on the Easyjet site does it state that you have to imput your API for Portugal. Does anyone actually know of anyone who has been refused a flight because they didnt put in there API prior to flying to Portugal.??

You won't be refused . . . . you'll be charged extra for doing it at the airport!mysecondhome wrote:Where on the Easyjet site does it state that you have to imput your API for Portugal. Re: Easyjet and API
I just spoke to customer services at Easyjet regarding a query I had with filling out the details. He apologised and informed me that these details are not needed for Portugal. When I told him that a big message had come up on my booking telling me that if I didn't give the information I would not be able to fly he said that this is an error that they are trying to rectify. He said that if I get any e-mails or requests in the future asking me to fill in the API to just ignore it

Crikey! You're lucky you managed to talk to easyjet customer services by phone! I filled my details out yesterday and there was one of those yellow boxes warning that i needed to complete API. No worries if i didn't need to complete; no harm done.Helen wrote:I just spoke to customer services at Easyjet regarding a query I had with filling out the details. Re: Easyjet and API
We flew out last week, so I guess we have supplied the required info.
Re: Easyjet and API
Printed off our boarding passes and up came the request for info.
Would not move on to the next stage without it.

Re: Easyjet and API
The request for info is part of the UK e borders scheme. There is a rolling programme covering all destinations. The planned date for completion is the end of 09. The UK has required API from Portuguese nationality travellers entering the UK since '08. UK residents travelling to Holland, France and Italy have been included over the last couple of months. Eventually the only API exception will be travel between the Schengen Agreement countries. The UK opted out of this treaty so will have to provide API for all European travel

Re: Easyjet and API
Having been to Portugal Spain and Ireland in the past month via Gatwick the fact that you have given this information beforehand means there is no passport check until the Boarding gate so less queues!!! Happy travelling !
