HELP!

Post by Karen Ann »

Our apartment is in Portimao, however we always celebrate New year in Carvoeiro and book into Carvoeiro sol for the night. I have just emailed them as usual and they have replied to say that they will be closed. Does anyone have any suggestions?
The reason we stay is because I have a drink so can't drive back. A taxi generally costs about €20 one way, the hotel normally works out less.

Well you asked for suggestions so here goes!

I am not surprised that the Carvoeiro Sol is not opening if all thaey charge is less than the taxi fare of 20 Euros!!

My suggestion is if you really want to pound stretch it is to drive there and get a cab home and maybe when your hangover has subsided the following day you either get the bus back to collect your car or get a well meaning friend to drive you.

If you really want to push the boat out get a taxi both ways.

There is always the bench next to the taxi rank with breakfast in Columbos as a further alternative.

Go on go for it- kick start the Portuguese economy and take a taxi!! Happy New Year

I know I said about €20 but that is each way so that would work out to €40, which if you think about it for about the same price I can drive in and park up, have a great night in the village go to sleep in the hotel. Get up next morning have breakfast, a wonder around the village again, then drive back home. The other way would mean that I would need a taxi both ways, although I would be able to sleep til whenever. I'll have a think about this one.
