Elle and Ellas is the dog danglies. Nuff said
If I want standard Portuguese fare served with tinned veggies i go elsewhere.
If i want a nice meal something a little different ,a nice bottle of wine in a relaxed informal atmosphere i go to Elle and Ella.
Yeh it cost a little more than other restaurants but still represents value for money compared to many other restaurants in and around CVO and certainly compared to anything back in the UK,IMHO.
I appreciate the OP had a bad experience but i would heartily recommend you make up your own mind and pay them a visit.
Maximes is also a long standing favourite and very child friendly despite its rather more formal facade.
Horses for courses, but I know i would rather give my hard earned to either of these establishments than to Happys or A Gale(ducks and heads for cover)

Re: Very bad attitude at Elle and Ellas
For me ... (to answer briefly the previous poster who thinks we all love A Gale ...)
Good and recommend to everyone who comes over to visit
Maximes
Marisqueira
Vila Nova
Ruis (in Silves)
Good Value
Casa do Bife
A Fonte
No strong feelings either way and maybe go once a visit
Villa Medici
A Rede
Casa Algarvia
California
Really don't rate (and have tried a few times)
Ele and Ela
A Gale
O Cantinho
One of the chinese and one of the indians
The thai

Re: Very bad attitude at Elle and Ellas
There are some local 'celebrities' in CVO but I don't really know their names.Ellie wrote:Yes she is lovely lady James Fmm, I like A Fonte too.....had some nice lunches there ...made me feel a bit sad actually cos the last meal I had there was with my friend Marilyn.....she sadly passed away
C'est la vie
1. The chap whom was a professional footballer who now has that restaurant near where the cars turn around in the main square
2. The twins whom work in two of the shops on the main town's hill(later found out that she is not a twin but works on alternate days in different shops)
3. The generously proportioned lady that works in that Rocha Brava grocery store whom though looks arguesome is a real sweetie
4. The manager/owner of the restaurant next to the Rocha grocery store - she is so naturally funny and a great personality
Now ,I have heard rumours of a bad-tempered taxi driver but from what I have seen of them they all seem to be decent chaps. One evening a rather stunning middle-class lady was waiting for a taxi with her husband and when she saw the driver she decried "On no! Not that miserable old b*******d!"
Anyway these are my local celebrities. I am not sure if there are any villains; but I not know of any!

To James Faro:
In reference to your previous remarks: "One evening a rather stunning middle-class lady was waiting for a taxi"
I live in Canada and as we do not have different classes of ladies here, can you tell me what I should be looking for in Portugal to be able to spot a "middle-class lady" ?
Thanks.

Alas, I cannot be objective on an issue that is delightfully subjectiveHoser wrote:To James Faro:

Re: Very bad attitude at Elle and Ellas
I wonder if after all these postings if Elle and Ellas have read the comments here and taken things on-board,as it were? And to think this posting has attracted over 2,000 views!

Yes, but how much of this thread is actually about Ele & Ela, and how much is it about a whole load of other restaurants, personalities and chit chat ?James Faro wrote: And to think this posting has attracted over 2,000 views!
