Acceptable?

Post by Ellie »

Here you are then Hieni and Guest..what about this one..getting away from sport!
Would you accept a lift from a stranger? Whether in your own country or in Algarve?
I did..on my recent holiday in CVO....and regretted it.
Nothing bad happened but I felt foolish and vulnerable as a result.
Im putting it on my next story 'Getting to Know You'
which Im sending to Steen tomorrow.
When we lived in Algarve 'lifts' were the usual thing with schoolkids hitching lifts to and from school.
What do you think? and would you do it?

I once very stupidly accepted a lift in Birmingham. I was in my early 20s and I wasn't all that far from home either. I was feeling a bit tired and so just got in this car that stopped at the side of the road offering a lift. I should have seen that it was a guy trying to hit on me and I didn't know what to do once I was in there.
Fortunately I got out of there without incident but never again, no matter where I am!

Frightening situation Deb.....and when you read some things that happen....suppose you get the shivers but you got out of it okay thank goodness :)
Nothingbad happened to me in CVO...it was middle of the day and lot of people around....
but there was a 'follow up' to it....and alarm bells sounded :!:
But I should never have put myself in the situation in the first place....it was foolish(and Im old enough to know better..or so I thought!)..cos once in a car..and one with cental locking..you are trapped
and though I was in pain that day(bad foot) and was glad of a lift....I wouldn't do it again.thats for sure!
