no draught beer

This is not a restauarnt review so i hope you dont mind me posting it here.

Went to Elle and Ella on our last night of the holiday im sure i saw the bar man pouring two large beers from 1 litre bottles of superbock. He had no pump, is this something that goes on in most restuarants?

I'm not sure if i bother about it or not. Its a little bit off putting that a bottle from the super market at €1.63 is then sold for 2 large beers totalling €8. I guess wine is the same and even draught beer probaly is €2 euros a litre to the restauant.

Not come across this practice myself kenny. Been visiting Carvoeiro/Albufeira/Alvor on holidays for many years now and always been served Super Bock, Sagres and cider via the pump from a keg. Wonder if pump was temporarily out of order. if it wasn't - then the barman was!

Wouldnt surprise me, most restaurants though you can see the pumps...I would be well p****d off if they did that to me...best I saw was wine shop under matixibo castel mendes 1.99... same in restaurant 12 euros and it was only for the kids...one hell of a price to cool it and then cook my own food!

The mark-up on wine is common wherever you go - sometimes a reasonable increase and sometimes scandalous. Usually, house wines are quite reasonably priced and drinkable in Algarve restaurants and bars in my experience. One thing we did find early on is that 'national' white rum is cheaper than genuine Bacardi. With a Coke mixer I can't tell the difference. After a few beers I often join my wife drinking rum and coke and a typical charge for two drinks is €8 to €10 for Bacardi, but only €5 for local white rum. Over the course of a two week holiday this saves quite a few euros, especially if you're out every night like us!

handy to know.....house wines are usually bought it the boxes of 5L or more and can be as little at 3,99 a box and not bad to the taste either
