So have you had NYE's since 2004?

Yes, every year except last year when we came home on the 28th. I just haven't written about them.

We have had NY in cvo for the past several years and tried various venues. Like you we want an atmosphere, good food and preferably music and dancing. Don't think you can get everything on the list by staying in cvo and walking distance of home. We've been to the Bon Bon (bit too far to walk for us) who do an excellent NY menu but it was a bit sedate so if we go there again we'll get a bigger group of us to make our own 'party''. We've been to Ponte Romano in Silves for their country and western evening a couple of times - cheap, hilarious and great atmosphere but food a bit basic and we're not really into the country and western dancing! Last year went to O Barradas near Silves - excellent food and great atmosphere but requires driving and not much in the way of dancing other than impromptu disco after midnight. This year, I think we are going to try Club Nau at Praia Grande (near Ferragudo) - supposed to be good atmosphere , food, live music, dancing and you can see the Portimao fireworks from there at midnight. We investigated Tivoli Almansor Hotel but was silly money. So............probably a negative answer to your question of finding the 'right'place in carvoeiro - but there are plenty of places open on NY eve so you can always make up your own party and book a local restaurant. I don't mind driving so we are able to go a bit further afield but we have also used taxis as well - just has to be booked in advance. Good luck!

Like you we are looking for a New Years Eve venue this year (2 couples each 10 years older than your party!).

We went to Julio's last year which was excellent but unfortunately they are closed for Christmas and New Year this year.

Received an email from Ma-Ja's today...very nice menu's.

The Xmas day one states house wine,beer or sof drinks...........does that mean unlimited free or one?

I know its not in Carvoeiro but we went to a family run restaurant just outside of Albufeira last year.
5 course meal , choice of dishes and unlimited drink, champagne on arrival and at midnight. Cost under 40 euros/head.
Its a pity that we do not have anything like this locally.

Just to clarify, unlimited house wine, beer or soft drinks are included in the price within reason of course on Christmas Day So no need to be mad

The Jailhouse is always good fun on NYE.....Karen & Dave usually organise a Chinese beforehand, but that is a bit early in the evening.

My husband and daughter went in there at least 4 years ago as it was noted as lively in tbe easy jet magazine. Sadly on that night at about 10.30pm there were about 3 pensioners. Can't recall time of year, but always possible it was late January, so maybe the reason. Anyway we are still not sure what to do as our friends in their mid 70's look for something reasonably up market, but equally as long as the food and atmosphere is good that is priority. If it was just us we could mooch around the bars.

Dave doesn't usually start playing till 10.30, and then only if there is a bit of a crowd......it will be shut in Jan ( after NYE), so you must have visited at another time of year.....we were there is September : quiet some nights, great atmosphere on others. Worth re-trying!

I still reckon the obvious solution is a good old knees up round at your place Licy! No travelling, great food, plenty of atmosphere, very up market, as much cheap booze as you want & it'll save you having another bash for the house warming.
