Faro Airport damage repair
Faro Airport damage repair
What is happening about repairing the storm damage at Faro Airport? Has any work started yet and if so when is expected to be finished? I have not seen any news about it recently.

Re: Faro Airport damage repair
Work was ongoing when we were out at Xmas. A bit of disruption but more from the carpark alterations.

Thanks. We will be back in Carvoeiro in April so hopefully all work will be completed by then.

Almost back to normal ( 8 days ago ). Arrivals still in the temporary structure.

I have just found a report in the Algarve Resident newspaper online that has information regarding the ongoing repair situation.

Re: Faro Airport damage repair
That piece in the Resident regarding normality applies to now - when tourist numbers are miniscule. There is no way the current arrangements could cope with the Summer influx.
I had a look around last Tuesday and saw that the big check-in hall is nowhere near repaired - it doesn't look as if anything has been done - apart from covering the place in some form of tarpaulin.
While it's great to be able to get through (leaving and arriving) the airport very quickly at present - if the current situation stretches into March and beyond - there will be chaos.
Then you have to contend with the external works and god only knows what shape that is going to take........
