PLaces to Eat in Lagoa and inland
Re: PLaces to Eat in Lagoa and inland
Are you sure its a restaurant and not someones front room that you wandered into by mistake.!!!
Re: PLaces to Eat in Lagoa and inland
I suppose at least if you complain online it gives other people a fair chance to find it and save their money (and their nostrils )Jaylay wrote: Well if the people feel strongly enough to complain online and wander why this place is still open, they will have to put up with it.
How about you go try it this evening and let us all know what you think... hell I'll even refund the cost of the meal if you do it.EMM wrote:Are you sure its a restaurant and not someones front room that you wandered into by mistake.!!!
Re: PLaces to Eat in Lagoa and inland
Talking of Mexican has anybody ever tried "Cactao" on the left as you drive into the village of Odiaxere on the N125 going towards Lagos from Portimao? It seems to be a Mexican but I have never managed to find any reference to it anywhere. We have been meaning to give it a try for a long time now but don't want to go all that way only to have an "El Paso" experience ( yes concur with others' comments). So can anyone give a first hand opinion i.e. someone who's actually eaten there...no hearsay please. Many thanks.

You might want to try Edra's which is on the road into Carvoeiro, just past the Intermarche, turn left at the traffic lights and it's set down on your left. Really good food at sensible prices. He usually has some great daily specials to look out for, don't miss the fish if its on the menu ! and his Piri piri prawns for starters are a must!
Also have a look at O Caserao, which is on the EN125 at Lagoa, if you are driving in past IZI and Barclay's on your right, its just before the roundabout, and opposite the garage.
Happy Eating !!!!

We had a lovely meal in O Cactao, mixed international menu when we went. Really good.
There is a mexican in Ferragudo now I think, where Banards used to be.

Unless I am mistaken the Mexican is up by the church and Barnards is now a Tunisian/Morrocan restaurant.
See the restaurant section ref Tacubabar or similar.

Last time I looked Barnards was an upmarket Chinese/Indonesian restaurant

Thanks Ron - you are correct - I knew it was something strange
Re: PLaces to Eat in Lagoa and inland
All of the above sound delicious.
Re: PLaces to Eat in Lagoa and inland
The Mexican up by the church in Ferragudo has now closed unfortunately and Ron is correct, what used to be Barnards is now a Chinese/Indonesian restaurant.
Re: PLaces to Eat in Lagoa and inland
So this is why 'probably the only English restaurant in town' is now doing a Mexican special
Good of you to cater for all the Mexican tourists in CVO

Re: PLaces to Eat in Lagoa and inland
We looked at the menu outside earlier this year , but were put off by a couple of unplessant dogs that were growling at us.....a rather dishevilled man at the restaurant made no attempt to call them....we walked away, sounds as if we did the right thing!
