Which part are you staying at?

Our apt is in the lower block on rua do barranco, very good location - walking distance of everything, beach, bars, shops, restaurants etc.

If you are staying at one of the apts on the hill, you do have a bit of a hill to negotiate, but it's not too bad. The apts on the hill are in small groups around communal pools.

In my opinion the apartments are well equipped and spacious, we have had lots of very complimentary comments about ours from guests who have stayed there.

Reception are very helpful if you have any problems, and open until 11pm through the summer.

I'm sure you will enjoy your stay.

We are staying on the Rua de Barranco too so that helps me a lot, thanks.
What is the beach at Carvoeiro like for children?

I don't have kids so can't comment on that one! Anyone else care to give their opinion.

Do you know which apt you are staying in?

Because of winter storms etc, all the beaches slightly change during the winter, but I was last in Carvoeiro in July 2002, my personal opinion is that all the beaches in Portugal that I have been to are not exactly toddler friendly. Carvoeiro shelves away quite quickly along with many of them in that area. Pera has hidden rocks. Praia Grande is possible one of the safest for lttle kids because it is as much on the river as the sea, although I tend to be more suspicious about the water quality there!

I love the Portugese beaches, endless stretches of yellow sand, coves backed with cliffs and loads more yellow sand. As a swimmer with two strong swimmer children, I think they are the best beaches in the world but would say you have to be eternally viligiant with little ones - but then you have to anyway!

You are very lucky. I was over 8-15 May - see my comments in Forums. The accommodation is excellent. I had a 2 bed duplex which is on 2 floors and has 3 balconies one of which is massive. If you want more info let me know and I'll give you all my experiences. My e-mail is d.mcbeath@blueyonder.co.uk
