We return

Post by Lamby »

All booked. After my "short" visit to CVO earlier this month we have booked to return. We had the funeral for my lovely mother in law last week and, as she would have wanted, we move on. We return for eight days on 28th March and can't wait. Before that I am off to Budapest for a "lads weekend". I say lads, most of us are in our 50's!! Still, booked into a shooting club to fire some weapons, a city tour booked and turkish baths booked.
Then, the BIG ONE. We go to New Zealand for Christmas & New Year this year. Just waiting confirmation of flights, four weeks away. Flying into Wellington (North Island) for Xmas with friends then off touring. Still can't decide whether to focus all our time on the North Island or whether to make the ferry across the Cook Straits and see some of the South Island. A nice problem to have!! All this and two weeks away touring in our caravan. Just a pity work gets in the way of all these holidays.

See Lamby! You were understandably worried last year about certain issues(not being able to travel again) but things that seem doom and gloom ain't necessarily gonna happen. :)

On a separate note, very sorry to hear about your mother-in-law and I hope your lady wife takes comfort in that she had a great mum.

Good on you Lamby, as you say, life goes on, you and your better half will have your memories to look back on. I'm sure mum-in-law would approve. An exciting trip for Christmas for sure. :) :)

Thanks for the messages people - much appreciated. Funny how life has a habit of surprising you! Last year I posted about "my last ever trip to CVO". Due to Liz's early retirement funds were tight and we had to forfeit our regular trip to paradise. Now we return in March and are planning Xmas & New Year in New Zealand.
Gaynor, I am sure we can get to Harry's Saturday 29th March. I will PM you soon.

New Zealand - both islands are beautiful, and have a completely different feel. With 4 weeks you should have time to visit both; roads are not usually too busy. On North Island Wellington is a great city. Also if you can, visit Napier (art-deco buildings), Lake Taupo, Rotorua (for Maori settlements) and Auckland. We have only cruised round South Island going through Milford Sound and calling at Dunedin (not bad) and Akaroa, a lovely quiet resort (as Christchurch had just suffered an earthquake).

Hi Smudger. Would love to meet for a drink. Talking to Jorge in January (during our twenty hours in CVO) he was telling me they were moving the bar to the TV area over in the corner that was really not doing much. Creating more space in the restuarant area. Hope it's all finished by March / April. I will PM you nearer the time.
Thanks Dennis. We have friends on The North Island so have decided to use all our four week touring the North and I have planned a trip taking in all the places you mention - thanks. We will just have to go again and do the South Island.
