Re: New car rental charges proposed at Faro airport
The P4 car park operates on a number plate recognition system. Therefore, the airport already has control over who uses that car park and must already make a charge each time a car exits the car park. There is also signage to P4. So I am confused.
Also, if they are going to make these charges they should provide enough under cover space and facilities for the operators and customers. At the moment it is totally inadequate - no wonder firms operate out of vans. If they all tried to operate from the current shed it would be chaos.

The companies I have dealt with, with depots off airport, have been as good as the "main" companies. How can it be controlled when booking on-line, the hire company picks you up from a certain spot in the arrivals area and whisks you off to their depot to sort paperwork and collect the car. Will there be patrols watching for buses picking up passengers and luggage or will the 'established' on airport companies "grass them up".

It will probably go the same way as the unlicensed tranfer operators with the GNR checking vehicles for their permits etc.
No doubt they will have to pay to use a reserved parking area where clients can be transferred to where ever the cars are kept.
The days of reps inside the terminal other than those with kiosks are numbered.

can Steen confirm if any charge is being levied yet? I heard the court case to charge this fee did not succeed.

Snakes? Didn't think they were in Carvoeiro could you get rid of them with sour milk?
Re: New car rental charges proposed at Faro airport
hoping it was a grass snake. It slithered under a plant that hangs over the tower planter and could well still be under that pkant now.pointersister wrote:Snakes? Didn't think they were in Carvoeiro could you get rid of them with sour milk?

Even if it was not a grass snake, ther is nothing to fear Portugal does not have any dangerous snakes.
They are far more frightened of you .
Now spiders centipedes and hornets ,that is a different matter, they can give you nasty bites and stings.

What do snakes have to do with Car rental ?
This is the General Carvoeiro area, where it is less appropriate to digress than if you were chatting in chit chat.

I suppose you could argue that there are some snakes operating in P4? We will be picking up a car around 10pm on Monday, so watch this space.
