Car Hire Carvoeiro

Hi all,

Any time we have been to Carvoeiro we did not hire a car. We are thinking about doing so when we head out again in August.

I was just wondering would anyone have any advice regarding car hire e.g. average deposits required, insurance, is it hassle free?, how are the road tolls handled, what company to go to, documents to bring, essential extras to get(e.g. sat nav) etc.

We intend to hire in Carvoeiro and return car in Carvoeiro as we already have airport transfers sorted out, it will be just for taking a few sightseeing spins really.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I didn't drive abroad until 3 years ago - used YOR and told Steen not to give me a new car - got a beat up Skoda that smelled a bit but that got rid of being too conscious about damaging it Not worried about it at all now.

Best to book in advance if you can - YOR do not ask for a deposit and will match any quote outside July/August.

I've used Yor a few times, usually get a taxi from Faro to CVO and get the car delivered to our villa for the last few days of the holiday. Returning it to the airport has always been trouble free due to them having their own van in the car park, although I gather this has all now changed and they are in the rentals hut with everybody else.

I would definitely recommend Yor, and advise taking out the excess waiver insurance as well, especially if you only hire the car for a few days. It has to be worth it to avoid a potentially crippling excess charge in the event of a claim.
