Night time attack & robbery

Post by sam »

My son was staying in CVO about a week and a half ago. He came home about midnight and appears to have been followed from the town centre by two men (friend saw two men of gypsy appearance walking behind him in the town). It would appear that they jumped him at the apartment door, went in and took his laptop and camera. He cannot remember what happened and suffered bruising to the face and side of his head. Police informed and did house visit. The thieves turned on his laptop and location was in Poco Partido area. This appears to have been an opportunistic theft so please take care and be alert at night.

That's really bad news. Hope they automatically locked it as well.
Thought it had been a bit quiet for a while from Poco Partido!

what a nightmare, I hope your son will be ok.
My daughter stayed at our place end of June last year and woke at 5.45am to find a gypsy type in the room going through her stuff
They are getting too confident but nothing happening to protect or prevent. She now wont come back and we are selling up

Whereabouts in CVO were these 2 attacks? - they seem very unusual.

That is very sad to hear, I would think that the GNR should make an issue like this a high priority over driving around giving tickets for minor driving errors. We have always felt very safe in Carvoeiro (which is one of its main attractions to us) and would hate to see this kind of problem continue to happen or worsen.

Sorry to hear about your daughter's terrible experience.

Our villa is close to Pestana Gardens but this was happening all across CVO
My daughter was unbelievably brave or foolish. When she saw him she sat up in bed and screamed at him to get out and chased him and nearly vcaight him until he threw a chair in her way! But this has left her traumatised and unable to sleep without a light on and she still has nightmares. Because she chased him with her boyfiriend in close chase he dropped his loot apart from a new iphone and jumped over the back wall. There are lots of stories but it appears there is no fear of entering homes/villas whilst you are there to relieve you or renters of cash and phones and these are easy to dispose of. The phone had been unplugged and alarm disabled.

I wonder if the majority are close to the main roads - the N124 out towards Rocha Brava as an example. This would make it easier for them to get away by having a car or more than one waiting for a quick getaway. Down by the main beach and Monte Carvoeiro it's more of a maze and they are forced by one-way systems to go certain ways.

If you look back to my recent topic "Daylight robbery" you will see the villa concerned was in Monte Carvoeiro :(

I agree, nothing to do with main roads. Mine is not close at all. There is no pattern or logic.

My son's attack took place at our apartment in one of the lanes near CVO centre. I am sorry to hear other people have had problems. it is quite unsettling and made me more wary and unsettled whilst out there since. However, we have had the place for 22 years and first problem. To be fair to them, the police seemed to take my son's attack seriously.
