Pintadinho Beach
Does anyone know what's happening at the car park for Pintadinho beach? I had a quick drive down there last week while out on my annual golf trip, and found both car parks blocked off with huge lumps of granite. The bottom car park was blocked off for a day in August by the same method, but the stones were gone the next day. Talking to Elsa in the Restuarant in August, she said the top car park had been purchased for development, but wondered if anyone knew the latest situation?

Just back from a week in Carvoeiro and thought I'd give an update on my previous post.
For those of you familiar with Pintadinho Beach, you'll know there are a couple of half built houses overlooking the beach. Apparantly the chap who owns these also owns both of the car parks for the beach, and an additional property across the road. We have been visiting Pintadinho for the last 13 years and the unfinished houses were already there. The owner has been in dispute with the local authority over the build, and has now become so frustrated that he has blocked off the beach car parks until it gets resolved. As an alternative solution he has offered to sell them the car parks for €2million!
My personal opinion is that the houses in question are an intrusion on the beach, and can understand if this was behind the planning issues. But by the same token I can’t believe how much of the building work was actually completed before the project stalled.
The only people who will suffer while this dispute grinds on are the local residents, the owners of the Beach Restaurant, and of course the thousands of holiday makers who flood to the resort every summer. It will be absolute chaos on the road down to the beach, as there are no warning signs that the car parks are inaccesible.
And of course this is the problem with Social Media, in that more people will become aware of the problem and avoid visiting in the first place. Self fulfilling prophecy.
I personally hope the situation gets resolved quickly as my two children have spent most of their summers growing up on this beach, and the Restaurant is a personal favouritefor a plate of Sardines while watching the sunset. We’re not back as a family until next Summer so if anyone else picks up any further snippets of information I’d love to know.
