IKEA Loule
At long last IKEA has opened its doors just off the A22 at Loule.
The one thing that is blindingly obvious is that it is going to blow lower to middle end furniture and kitchen shops like Conforama, on the Algarve, out of the water!
Whilst the store is easy to see from the motorway, just by the airport turnoff, it isn't quite so easy to get to.
Firstly, there is no signage to direct you.
The driver needs to ignore the obvious usual turn off to the airport, but rather carry on for a further 300 metres and take the Loule turnoff and head for Loule.
There are masses of roadworks and building works, but no signage until you approach a 2nd new roundabout, where you have to spot a small blue and yellow IKEA arrow leading you onto a spur road and into the construction site. Head towards the very obvious IKEA building and there will be signs or members of staff directing you to a huge underground carpark.
For those familiar with IKEA, you will recognise the format and layout.
For those not familiar with IKEA, prepare yourself for a huge Pandora's box of everything household except TVs and kitchen 'white goods'.
For anybody furnishing a new villa in a modern Northern European style , or renovating and updating rather tired Portuguese furniture , this place is a godsend.
Whatever your taste, it's worth a visit.

Re: IKEA Loule
Looking forward to going round the new store as looking for beds and bedside tables.
We found Casa and Zara Home and Loja Gato in Aqua in Portimao good for lights and small items.
Another route we took was to buy old coffee table and have it painted in worn cream style in Lagoa which was very satisfactory in terms of look and price.
