Regarding item 2 :
Everybody in England can get a free supply of lateral flow tests so I can't see why you can't take these with you. When you take a test you can then submit the results via the NHS web site. When you do this NHS then send you an email that records your result. So far as I can see the information in that email meets the requirements for evidence of a test (name, date of birth, NHS number, date of test, result, and provider). Also the NHS tests meet the technical requirements that have been set - else why are we bothering.

If I'm correct then it seems as though you can take a test with you, then take the test at the right time, submit the results via the NHS web site, receive the email from NHS to confirm test and be able to show email as proof.

This seems straightforward if I'm right but we need confirmation of whether this approach will be acceptable. Fingers crossed.
Can't help but feel you are being incredibly optimistic here....self testing seems to be wide open to abuse from people either not doing it properly ( though the test control may prevent that) or simply lying on the NHS web site and saying it's negative when it isn't.

I'm sure it will need to be done by a professional independent party in Portugal...I have my feelers out!

Here's a link to the BA Covid test page
https://www.britishairways.com/en-gb/in ... sts#before
You can self test at home before departure to the airport, but it's monitored over video link by a professional.
As noted, the NHS version is open to abuse as all you need is the test strip unique reference, and you can enter whatever you like.
I'm booked for September, on the basis that Portugal will by then be unlocked and normal. Hopefully by the time we return end October, the UK entry requirements will have gone.

Interesting.....£39 less 15%....would still have thought that monitoring via video call was open to potential abuse.

See article in today's DT....

Have you enquired at the Centro de Saude ? I believe this will be done free of charge for residents and may be cheaper, if not free, for property owners who have an Identificaçao do Utente (Health Service I.D. number).
Alternatively try one of the private medical centres such as Monte Carvoeiro.

Many airlines including Ryanair have done deals with testing companies both in the UK and abroad. see here for Ryanair's list https://www.ryanair.com/ie/en/useful-in ... stinations

Aside from thiis in the UK one of the cheapest that I have found is Boots where you can get a PCR test at certain stores for £50.

In Portugal I have found this https://www.unilabs.pt/marcacoes-covid- ... d=[UNIQID] which has locations in Portimao.

I have been following this thread as booked to visit our villa on VDM next month.
For the return test I have come across this company https://www.facebook.com/SEconsultoriomedico/ who I believe charge €50 and also https://www.medicalport.org/portugal-medical-tourism

There is more info at https://www.myguidealgarve.com/travel-a ... e-portugal

Would be good to get some feedback from anyone who gets a test and travels in the first couple of weeks its allowed.

The Ryanair link goes to Unilabs in Portimao....I contacted them and it's 100€ pp too. Awaiting to hear from others.

Where?....looking at https://www.boots.com/covid-19-testing/ ... ng-service
the test is £99 and can only be done for certain stores, though it doesn't seem to specify them....

Judging by the comments on this forum, the warning from the Border Force boss and the uncertainty around the technology, we're brewing a perfect storm.
Thousands of passengers stranded in arrivals lounges waiting to be processed by an unprepared and understaffed Border Force.

Not for me thanks. I'll wait until things get back to something like normal. 8)

...just found an " At Home Testing Kit" from Boots for £65.....

https://www.boots-uk.com/media-centre/p ... daymakers/

Can't find anything cheaper.....Easyjet offer £60 test through Randox Health : think its meant to be for pre-departure from UK, but presume you can use it for a Day 2 PCR test once returned & in quarantine...but I was number 2000+ in a queue to access their website!

Just to add to the confusion.....

Headline in this afternoon Daily Mail

BA warned passengers on flights to Faro today: 'You can only travel internationally from England for legally permitted reasons. This does not include holidays', despite Portugal being on the official 'Green List' from Monday
