Returning to Portugal?
Re: Returning to Portugal?
Indeed, that shouldn't surprise anyone : relaxation is from May 17 and holiday makers shouldn't try and jump the gun.BA warned passengers on flights to Faro today: 'You can only travel internationally from England for legally permitted reasons. This does not include holidays', despite Portugal being on the official 'Green List' from Monday
Still awaiting something in black & white from Portugal about entrance after 17 May with vaccination proof though....at moment, it's just press reports.
Re: Returning to Portugal?
Some good news at last....Aqualabs ( in Portimao) can do the antigen test for 30€ and Sumario Eloquente Consultorio Medico (Portimao) charge 50€ for the PCR test, as Carolyn said earlier.
BTW:
BTW:
A friend checked...they don't do it.Have you enquired at the Centro de Saude ? I believe this will be done free of charge for residents and may be cheaper, if not free, for property owners who have an Identificaçao do Utente (Health Service I.D. number).

Re: Returning to Portugal?
Thanks for confirming Geoff - that sounds quite hopeful.
Just need to hear the update from the Portuguese government for travel after 18th May

Re: Returning to Portugal?
I've corrected an earlier post...it's the Aquababs in Portimao that do it...the antigen tests don’t need to be booked, but they are made in the lab in Portimão: Rua Melvin Jones, Edifício São Sebastião, Lote 6 Loja B, 8500-396 Portimão..... 30€/each, results by the end of the day, no appointment needed, done from Monday to Friday between 2pm and 3:30pm
If you get lost in Portimao as often as we do though, you might find it prudent to check location in advance, here it is:

Re: Returning to Portugal?
This would appear to be the solution....................????? Today's Telegraphwidge wrote: ↑Tue May 11, 2021 10:30 am Judging by the comments on this forum, the warning from the Border Force boss and the uncertainty around the technology, we're brewing a perfect storm.
Thousands of passengers stranded in arrivals lounges waiting to be processed by an unprepared and understaffed Border Force.
Planes full of holidaymakers could be diverted to European airports under emergency plans to cope with four-hour queues at Heathrow, under contingency plans to be discussed by aviation regulators on Wednesday.
The Telegraph understands Heathrow is planning to divert holiday jets to other airports including in Europe if queues at border controls exceed four hours.
The airport says it is no longer prepared to tolerate queues that have been six or more hours long because of health and safety risks - and will instead hold passengers in their planes or divert them to other UK airports or those on the continent.
The move will pile pressure on the Home Office and Border Force after its director general Paul Lincoln warned last week that there would be delays at immigration checks because it is taking 15 times longer to process every passenger than normal.
Re: Returning to Portugal?
Fingers crossed for Luton!
Re: Returning to Portugal?
Just heard from Synlab in Lagoa who say it’s necessary to book first and that they do the testing Monday to Friday but only during the morning.
For an appointment let them know the day, PCR or Antigen, and how many persons.
Details are :

Re: Returning to Portugal?
I'm not seeing much about the Portuguese entry requirements, which are currently essential reasons only, with a PCR test, and do not appear to include the Stanley Johnson loophole (preparing a property for sale or rental).
Does anyone know when these will be reviewed please?

Re: Returning to Portugal?
I recall the Portuguese Tourist minister saying they will be open on May 17 if UK people have digital proof of jabs/recent -ve PCR test...but I also await to see it in black & white!Does anyone know when these will be reviewed please?
This site: https://www.visitportugal.com/nl/conten ... d-portugal
says the State of Calamity will be in force till May 16...so, hopefully, an announcement soon about May 17....
Re: Returning to Portugal?
Today's Daily Mail reports .......
Until the row in the EU is resolved, airlines would be forced to cancel flights or send people home when they arrive at their UK airport for departure. The Portuguese cabinet is meeting today to discuss lifting its ban on arrivals for non-essential travel.
A TUI spokesman told MailOnline: 'We will only take people on holiday if FCDO travel advice allows and borders are open. We therefore await an update from Portugal. Should both of the above not be in place on 17th we will cancel flights and offer customers a full refund, or let the change to another holiday for free'.
Last week the Foreign Office updated its official travel advice to say that they no longer advise against all but essential travel to Portugal. But the Portuguese Government is yet to update its entry requirements to match.
The uncertainty with just four days to go until the great getaway is being blamed on Brussels, made more complicated by Portugal holding the EU presidency, meaning its officials are expected to toe the bloc's line, according to The Times.
A source told the newspaper: 'If they don't resolve it the alternative will be thousands of British visitors being turned away at the airport, which is not a good scenario. This is an awkward position for the presidency to be in'.
The EU is not expected to update any travel advice until the middle of next week at the earliest, after Britons are due to leave for Portugal on Monday. This means that Lisbon will have to make an exception for Britain if holidays are to go ahead.
A more likely date in mind for the EU to agree would be by May 29, when the Uefa Champions League final is being held in Porto and thousands of English fans of Chelsea and Manchester City are expected to jet in.
Why on earth Portugal are inviting thousands of football fans to Porto when the UK turned them away due to inability to quarantine in UK is beyond me. It sounds like a recipe for more Covid just like last years F1 race at Portimao.

Re: Returning to Portugal?
Hope this is all cleared by 1 June.....
Re: Returning to Portugal?
I'm sure the politics will be sorted by then Geoff. Did you see that Brittany Ferries may be launching a new service direct to Porto ?
Re: Returning to Portugal?
No....sounds great...always wanted to drive there, explore the north, but minimise the miles! Now they only need to crack the 90/180 limit.....but as it's cooler in the north, perhaps the summer there could be bearable....Did you see that Brittany Ferries may be launching a new service direct to Porto ?
