10 best things
As we may one day find ourselves spending a good part of every year in the region PLEASE could we hear about the positive side of life in the algarve.
So often all we seem to read are negative comments .
We would like to hear from those of you who have good things to say about your life in CVO.

my reasons
Although im not there yet I will be on April 5th
After 12 years of visiting Portugal I know its not as innocent as it was 10 years ago
But its still better than England.
These are my 10 good reasons for making the move
1 quality of life at the end of working day and weekends
2 I am only 36 but have suffered a few joint problems so climate is a plus
3 My partner feels safer when out and about day or night than in England
4 fishing, cycling, walking, swimming sailing, surfing, all things I enjoy but don’t do in England due to work or weather.
5 Social life
6 Politics I know they affect me But less so in Portugal
7 British media & television I wont miss that.
8 The sea where I live in England is brown No sand on it, and too much seaweed.
9 Adventure
10 It feels like the right thing to do at this moment in time.
Why did you move or why are you moving

good question TBBR, but
happyfish above gives ten good reasons…can’t really add to that….except to say there are little things that cant be counted or evaluated, there’s a certain magic…you will know it and love it….or you wont live here
what?? I do hope this is not the message given out by these forums“PLEASE could we hear about the positive side of life in the algarve. So often all we seem to read are negative comments”

My reasons would be:
The beauty of the place
Friendly people
Lovely clean air
sunshine
Cafe society
Food
But as kteee says don't expect paradise...
never liked the very hot & 'crowded months of July&August
The 'spitting'in the streets ..which we witnessed a lot of..but has that improved these days?
Occassional earth tremors..
The frustration of 'officialdom'...waiting..waiting...waiting..
The driving (tho here in lincs takes some beating on that score
)
Being ripped off by taxi drivers
The 'happy' guarda
.......
But Ive always missed the life I had there..and always feel sad when I leave..
as Digger says..its that certain magic !..........ellie

Not necessarily in order:
The weather
The laid-back lifestyle
Draught Superbock
Chicken Piri Piri at Rampa with the view to the coast
Relaxing in the pool, book in one hand G&T in the other
Sundowners on the roof terrace
Lunch at Caneiros or Algar Seco beach bars
Roast duck at Fatima's
Sunday lunchtime at the Cafe Englais in Silves
Thursday happy hour at the Anteak Bar

Ours is similar top ten...but number 6 made me smile.... Their politians are still probably giving them the same load of shit...but we cant speak the lingo...so only see the smiles...
I think for us it defiantely has to be the people and the relaxed lifestyle...OK we have to wait for things and we have to accept we can never expect things yesterday...but I suppose it is about getting in the groove and going with the flow
Re: my reasons
It doesn't stop us getting annoyed and frustrated with the decisions they make though!
Ah yes, but you know what they say:
"Change is inevitable, except from a vending machine."
I would list things like
Political stability
Climate (300+ days of sunshine per year)
The locals
Comparably low crime rates
Chicken Piri-piri at Galo de Ouro (at this rate we will be starting a piri-debate
)
Beaches, sun and bikini babes
