Fires in Portugal

I have just watched the ITV ten o'clock news in the UK and it is very alarming about the fires in Portugal.

The news was not very clear about where the fires were, are they anywhere near Carvoeiro? I do so hope that they are not and if anyone that reads this site is anywhere near where they are I do so hope you are OK.

We are flying out to Carvoeiro two weeks on Thursday and although I had not discovered this site before we booked the holiday, we were looking forward to it anyway, but after discovering your wed site we

are looking forward to it even more. Thank you everyone for all the information.

I have been looking for some of those fancy graphic maps of the affected region, but no luck.

The Algarve and Alentejo are not affected by the fires, the bulk of the over 70 fires is located in the north east, close to the Serra da Estrela and spanish border.

Thank you for your reply and good news as far as our holiday is concerned, I was in at the Travel Agent today, but they had no information! We are so looking forward to our holiday only two weeks and two days to go, not that we are counting...
