Algoz - market day

Post by djprescott »

Hi Elle, been trying to find the answer to your question regarding market day at Algoz, but no luck yet. I am over there in 2 weeks, and will find out then if I can't get an answer in the meantime. Dave.

Markets

Post by biffa »

Let me think. Isn't Portimao the first Monday, Silves the second and Algoz the third? The Resident show Algoz market as happening on the 11th this month so p'raps it is the second Monday each month after all

Just received e-mail from friend in Benagil, who confirms it is indeed the second Monday of every month.

Im out there the 6th so hope to make it there--I do feel a bit selfish talking of hols with all this dreadful fire business--feel very much for all the folk there including holiday makers--sincerely hope that its all over very soon and people can pick up their lives again,

Ellie - totally agree with you - it is so easy to be caught up in our own little world and not think about the bigger picture affecting other people. I can't imagine what it must be like to suffer loss in this way, either in human terms or property. Anyway, hopefully the situation seems to be improving now. Dave.

Yes, thank God hopefully things will now change for the better,Dave.
Isnt it great to have this forum to keep up to date with everything, even in these tragic circumstances we can communicate and feel we are there --in our favourite place--in spirit at least---have areal feeling of "commmunity" with folk there and all our friends on the forum.
Thanks "guest" for info on Lagoa market -- I remembered it being a Sunday when I was there new year 2002 ;you say its the second Sunday each month--think thatll be Sept.14th for me. You say except for month of Fatacil --think thats this month Aug isnt it?
Have a good weekend, Ellie

Communication

Post by djprescott »

Yes, it is good to be able to communicate and keep in touch with so many folks who have an interest and passion for CVO. We have a property between Benagil and CVO - nr Salicos - which we only manage to get out to 4 - 5 times a year, so it is great to be able to communicate with people in the area or are regular visitors or have lived there such as yourself. Do you intend to go back out there to live at some stage, Ellie?
Dave.

probably just have long periods there Dave--autumn/winter breaks.
But I did return briefly couple years ago to do work--gardener--so I may do that again if opportunity comes along.
I do miss the life style--all friends there--cafe society--and i love the sea.
So I would never say never to going back to live there!
Also miss the "crazy ness" of the place--which suits my personality----
Bom dia--Ellie
