Hey Finn Pete, I didn't know you were a member. :D In that case, I will send you a message tomorrow about my my friends, who moved to Finland from the Algarve. You asked me on my blog but I didn't know your e-mail to reply, so now I do. 8)

Just thought....Modelo's in Silves late one night my husband and I were at the Multibanco machine about 2yrs ago and as we walked away a man asked us if we could show him how to work the machine...the man turned out to be Nigel Kennedy, we got talking and he asked us if we lived here and would we like to join him for a drink, unfortunately, we were already late for a date with others.

However, we found him to be an extremely nice person and I have always loved his music.

 Ahhhh that reminded me NR, when we were in the Rouxinol restaurant on the way up to the Monchique about two/three years ago, Nigel Kennedy was sat at the next table with his young daughter and a lady, they were very nice and very friendly.

Yes Lesley that's where Nigel has a place.
He is very good friends with Cliff Richard. Cliff Richards likes coffee at the Al Kharib Cafe in Silves...I really do feel sorry for him at times, because all he wants to do is sit quitely read a paper and sip his coffee and of course tourists spot him and away they go.....but he always smiles and signs the various bits of paper they poke under his nose....as they say "we" get it all the time...when they spot me on my broomstick around Silves   But the way Bruxy is zooming around, I am well out ranked and out classed in the pecking order of such things

Gazza Moves In
Algarve United F.C. has offered Paul Gascoigne a comfortable villa with a pool as part of a three-year contract, signed last month, to manage the club. The former England star has no shortage of friends to help him settle in, including close mates Chris Evans and David Seaman, both of whom have Algarve homes. Other footballing buddies, such as Bobby Robson and Terry Venables, are regular visitors. Algarve United's unpaid but highly ambitious young players are hoping the team will rise over the nest few years from the first division of the Faro district to the Portguese national super league. The club directors believe Gazza's vast experience and excellent contacts could be crucial.

Gaston la Toilette

I sat at the next table to football pundit Mark Lawrenson at O Patio a couple of years ago. He certainly liked the sound of his own voice and even his dinner companions couldn't get a word in. Got the distinct feeling he was hoping someone would bother him. Nobody did. Get flashbacks still when I see him on the telly.

p.s. The only 'famous' person we ever met was Ken Wood, whilst in residence. We had a drink with him in Smileys( he introduced himself to me)..and we met him a couple times in CVO.
A gardener friend of mine (she had been a tennis coach)..played tennis with Sir Cliff.

Famous faces

Post by biffa »

When Fraser ran the Safari Bar below the Place restaurant he had a wall full of photos of well known people who had visited. These all were lost when the place was flooded in the Great Flood of (when was it?) and all his poor parrots were drowned. I recall photos of Eamonn Andrews, Susan George and ........yes - Ken Wood!
