CVO Relevant/Irrelevant

Post by maddi »

Hi Steen

I was wondering whether it would be appropriate for the General Discussions heading to become two headings, one where it is clear that it is the place to make specific enquiries, ask advice, etc and one which is more for general discussions which may be "off topic" - e.g. banter, what camera 35 mm or digital, world events, etc. I really think that this might help many users and help keep the forum harmonious.

Is it all possible or appropriate? (possibly using one of the foodie slots or the Fire slot - although the latter is still providing useful info to visitors new and old to the region).

I would also be very interested to know what other forum users, members and guests, think about this. I know it is common on other sites, e.g. Holiday Truths, Digital Spy, Hisaronu, etc.

Maddi :?

p.s. know that I am not supposed to use e.g. and etc but what the heck!

p.p.s might have been a good heading to use the poll option on, but obviously need your views first Steen

I suggest to expand the jokes forum to add "chit-chat" where the fans of banter can gather and/or if a topic gets derailed it can be moved to chit-chat. This should make most of us happy.

I think it's a good idea to split the forum. If you are after info it can get a bit frustrating following what start to be interesting threads that then go off at a complete tangent.

A general chit chat area would help to solve this without stifling the friendly community that the site is building.

Hi Folks, thanks for all the useful replies so far - I did think about a sticky or split on the joke forum, but felt a little uncomfortable, that threads of a serious but non-cvo related, would find themselves under that heading (unfortunately I am reminded of the masses of posts on another forum following the Soham Tragedy).

Anyway, continue to welcome your views.

Hi,

If I remember correctly there was a chat facility on this site prior to the format change, no-one appeared to be using it, (to my knowledge)
Correct me if I am wrong I don't think that there were as many forum users then, or at last it did not appear to be so.
Steen would possbly know how successful it actually was.

Regards to you all

anne, i rember the "chat room"...went there a few times, but can't rember meeting anyone there...i think part of the problem was that we live in different time zones.

Hi there folks,

Yes Anne, there did used to be a chat room facility and a few of us have set one up now, however much as then, it is not that widely used - although plenty of people make more chat like posts, I think that is why we are suggesting a place on the forum for the more wild and wacky posts - I do not think it necessarily about chatting but more about responding in a humourous way to some of the posts and that is why I for one, is pushing for a place where we can respond with joy and humour, if that appropriate -like so many others I beleive, a genuine and honest enquiry deserves a genuine and honest reply, but I do believe there is room for something else - have a look at the old messageboard???!!

Cowboy/Maddi,

Agree with cowboy ....the time zones probably had a lot to do with it
It certainly sounds like a good idea, I for one like to read the humourous and witty replies, not often contributing, but certainly enjoying the banter, makes for a little light- hearted fun, pity not everyone agees.
keep up the good work, chaps!!!

bye for now
