We are in the process of buying property on Quinta and would welcome any thoughts about the resort - are the management any good etc

hello, I just tried to rent first, it is easy in the winter to find something that is not that expensive. You will know if you really want it. Have you already considered that before buying?

Always liked the Quinta. First visited when I came here to live in 1981 and just liked the feel of it, but - its is an old development and many properties there will now need a complete rewire and new plumbing (walls opened, floors up etc etc)

Rather damp environment in some parts as well. I think you need to buy there at a keen price to do well.

Thanks for your info - we already own on Rocha Brava but the prices now are a bit rich for us to buy more. Relatives of ours stayed at Quinta in August and loved it - they have also stayed at Rocha several times. We visited Quinta last week and although Rocha is more pleasing to the eye we feel this is reflected in the prices. Quinta seems to have more activities for the kids whereas we like Rocha for the peace and quiet.

Any more advice would be welcomed - thanks.

We boght a C-type 2 bed house in 1991 and its the best thing we ever did. QDP is one of the oldest developments and has really matured well. It is in the best location with the prettiest surrondings of old trees and shrubs and miles better than the newer developments like Rocha Brava with their little neat suburban hedges!
I don,t know what type you are buying but with our houyse because it is 20-odd years
old we have replaced kitchen and bathroom, at vastly lower costs than in UK and the tilers are better than UK. I would advise against letting the QDP manage your house.
There are plenty of local people who can manage your house and its easy to get rentals.
We are one of the few house owners who pay the central facilities which for our 2 bed
house is about £280 with current euro rates. Go ahead, let me know if you do it!

We bought on QDP this July and are very happy with our purchase. We have also stayed on Rocha Brava but prefer to be nearer the town and also wanted to be closer to the Carvoeiro Tennis Club. We looked at various possibilities for managing our villa, including the QDP management. Can give you more info on this if you wish.

We ended up going with Algarvillas and have been very happy with them so far. They are British (Scottish) and have over 15 years experience managing properties in Carvoeiro. Website www.algarvillas.net.
