Didnt you know Admiral --Camp coffee is still on sale here in good old UK--and they serve it in hospitals as a "bedtime" drink"--made with milk of course.
Avery good Portuguese friend of mine told me she thought Portuguese men drank too much coffee --that it made them "moody" --but i tend to think it was more the "brandy" they chased it with that caused their "moods"!

Hi Dr. Have to admit I live in UK and have just finished a cup of Instant Decaf. which I have heard has been subjected to all sorts of cancer causing chemicals to get rid of the caffeine

I do have a coffee machine but I am one of the people that gets 'high' if I drink too much 'proper' coffee so have to go easy What causes that reaction for some people and not others

Think the best coffee is served in Portugal and unfortunately I don't know who supplies Starbucks etc. but think their coffee is disgusting and they are just the coffee equivalent of MuckDonalds

I don't know about instant coffee, but the decaf process for "normal" coffee doesn't involve any chemicals at all, cancer-causing or otherwise.

Same things that make chocolate affect people differently, or alcohol, or cheeseburgers, I suppose.

The best is in Portugal? I must beg to differ. Seattle gets my vote, but then, that is where most of my coffee-tasting experience comes from. Starbucks doesn't get supplied -- they roast their own. Starbucks started in Seattle (no, I'm not referring to Starbucks when I say how much I like coffee in Seattle). Around there, we call it Starburnt or Charbucks because they obviously over-roast the bean. I roast my coffee at home (or, that is, I used to until moving to Faro).

Thanks for the reply. Now I know why I don't like Starbucks coffee too - I always thought it tasted 'burnt' as if it had been sitting on a stove all day?

Have never been to the US so I can't comment on the coffee but if you think its better there then I'll take your word for it

If you haven't been to Zoomarine yet or Slide and Splash please take a 'thermos' with you - the coffee there is the worst we have ever tasted - even worse than the worst we've had in UK
