The renovation of the square is certainly generating interest and number of comments both good and bad ,on the whole I think long term it will create a calmer atomsphere in CVO I just hope that they provide extra parking facilities elsewhere ie park and ride.I am reassured to hear that completion for square is scheduled to coincide with my 1st visit of the year, one Q that I would like to raise is the small link road between road in and road out ,will the derelict building there be demolished to create easier passage between the two. :D

I doubt that unless the GNR enforce the parking rules and cars are towed that the usual chaos will continue.
Its not just the locals who are culprits but tourists of all nationalities who must have a car to get anywhere.
We will not use any of the road side bars of restaurants ( however good the food ) as we do not want exhaust fumes with our food.
Why anyone would want to eat at smilers of columbos is beyond us.

One day the local authorities will realise that if they are to fully realise the potential of carvoeiro they have to get the cars out of the village.
It has been done in Albufeira , Villamoura, QDL , lagos and it is now happening in other resorts.
Carveiro has a charm of its own and could return to its once up market status with higher tourist spending, those who stay at Monte Santo and its like ( paying substatially higher prices ) are unlikely to leave their complex if all that is on offer is a noisy vehicle strewn
village as an alternative.

Looking at the webcam on top of Matabixo the square is coming on a treat, you can see the lay out of the different coloured areas and it all looks like maybe another month and it could be finished enough for the Easter anyway.

Think the problem, Steen, is that they decided to bring in an excavator and remove the huge pile of soil in front of the toilets. The trucks removing the soil had to drive over what will be paved with red bricks, and it made sense for them to drive on concrete. On a positive note we counted 12 guys working on laying new surfaces for the in road, this afternoon. :)

Speaking of pic's, we will be returning to the UK at the weekend, until a brief return visit to Carvoeiro in June. One or two of you may have noticed my photo diary of work on the square, accessible from the home page. Would be great if someone else could continue the record, so those of us that cannot be here can keep up to date.
