Economy Car Hire

Hi Mike - I have extra insurance with Insurance4carhire (various helpful previous posts on this site). I have written to them again so fingers crossed. In future I will stand my ground and refuse to pay cash unless I can get a proper receipt - almost inevitable that something similar will happen again some time in the future, which is why it is surprising that the hire company couldn't deal with it properly at the time as they must deal with these incidents frequently.

Our car hire company warned us that some of those employed during the summer particularly in car park 4 to receive cars act in a less than reputable way.

Repair costs are inflated and unauthorised charges taken against credit cards ( well reported on this forum ).

I would never pay cash or credit card transaction without a formal factura ( in fact its probably illegal not to have issued you with one ).

The only company we had a problem with was Sixt. We changed to Economy Car Rental (Air Auto) in car park 4 and have had great service. And cheaper by far.

Result! - insurance4carhire paid up (without a credit card record or proper receipt) Very impressed and I have renewed with them for another year.

It's horses for courses isnt it?? We have used Travelrent on an average of 5 times a year for 6 years, and never had a problem

Have just returned from 3 days in cvo having used ECH - Drive4fun on the strength of this (and some previous) posts. Very happy with price (particularly as all included), service and car. Will use again. Have just filled in customer survey form accordingly - unlike the return flight on our national carrier but that's another story.
