Hello from a newbie!

Well, Satsuma. You beat me to it. I am a first time visitor to Carvoeiro also coming out over Easter for two weeks. So the posts in response to your question have helped. I have been on the forum before when first considering going over and everyone was a great help. I am looking forward to discovering the place for myself but information in advance is always great. As we usual travel for our overseas holiday in June my main concern about Portugal at Easter is the weather. Whilst I am not a slave to the sun it's nice to see it up in the sky when you throw back the curtains in the morning.
Who knows, our paths might cross somewhere in Carvoeiro over Easter and any other forum contributors are very welcome to buy me a beer ha ha

Hi all. I've recently joined your forum as we are coming out to Carvoeiro for the first time at easter. I've found loads of great info & tips from lots of the posts & its great to get up to date advice. I'm slightly worried about our trip as a lot of the posts seem to have replies from some very grumpy people who seem to put people down or start an argument at the drop of a hat. Some of the forums make for very interesting readings & I feel I know alot of you already! I'm hoping that Carvoeiro is not a clicky place but some of the posts do give that impression. Anyway, if anyone can reccommend places to visit nearby & their favourite haunts I would be very grateful. Thanks in advance!

Maybe I'm overly sceptical but isn't this a wind up with all the talk of "grumpy people" etc?

Point taken Tom and Gaynor - ( maybe I'm just a cynic although I don't think I could be accused of being grumpy, putting people down or starting an argument ) - but the wording just struck me as strange and also the lack of response after all of the nice replies from existing forum members. Mind you even if it is a wind up there will probably be a response now that I have said this. If it is genuine then I am happy to apologise.

Given the huge range of views and opinions " cliquey " is hardly a description I would use.
I can,t think of a more diverse group of contributors.

Many other forums are dull and very limited in the range of subjects discussed and questions asked.

Just to say thankyou all for your suggestions & advice. The Carvoeiro area looks really pretty & we can't wait to explore. We went to the Algarve for the 1st time at Easter & then again in November last year but went to the East staying in Cabanas & Santa Luzia. For Lamby, another 1st timer, we had lovely beach weather but after the bad winter I've got my fingers crossed. We are back in the Eastern Algarve in the summer but thought it was time to take in a few different places. Has anyone got any thoughts on East versus West?
P.s. Looking forward to Cereza's apology as not a wind up & I'm very pleased with the advice people have given me. (But I do agree that this is a very interesting forum).

Phew! Glad that's all sorted out.

Satsuma - east versus west has never occurred to us. We think both are as enjoyable. Both have plenty to see and plenty of history, lots of places to visit and if you are beach lovers, they both fit the bill. I suppose the east may be more pleasant for those with walking problems as the coastal areas are generally much flatter, but we love all of the Algarve - from east to west!
