Brady's is open on Fridays and its quiet- Adrianna runs the place on her own.
Saturday was closed when I was there alast week, anyhow I am sure you will not die from thirst or lack of entertainment.
You could always take a walk up to Monte Carvoeiro, a busy place in high season, some great restaurants, O Salamoa - Fernando's
Also Jazz Club, Phoenix nights, etc have entertainment.
Hope the weather will not be as hot as when i was there .. it was close to 40 deg with little or no breeze.. it took a lot to replace what liquid was lost during the heat of the day but i managed.....

There are also plenty of stalls usually associated with the peak season around the square and a lot of mime artists
(especially the one with the brazilian flag- a site for sore eyes-make sure you see her/him).

There is plenty of entertainment around in August, I am sure you will enjoy....

But this is not one of them it makes my skin crawl.

I,m all for a bit of a laugh and appreciate the mime /statue artists especially the 'Sand Man' who is great with the kids,but this is just SICK or is it just me
I am in Carvoiero at present and watch him/her walk into town each evening past ele and ela, he seems to stay till about 1045pm then walks back out again presumably before any drunks have a go at him.
Can you imagine anything like this being allowed back in the UK?

I am sure he is a well known 'local character' but this is not a good image for Carvoiero.

By the way it is very very busy in CVO at the moment the busiest ive seen it in my 10 yrs of coming here.

A lot more stalls street sellers and the like than i have ever seen before.

VERY VERY HOT as well although it is feeling a little more pleasant this morning.

Last Sunday, we went in to watch the match (Cork v Kilkenny) - the place was packed - one barman

Maybe it's me but I find it a bit "souless" don't ask me why, but I can't take to the place.

Erm! Why do you find him 'offensive'? Please explain. Is it because he's different to the norm?
Weird comments on here about someone who you know very little about, except for the 1st impressions.

I just dont think it is particularly suitable or the correct image to portray in a largely family orientated resort like Carvoiero.

I dont know him from Adam but IMO it is offensive to stand out in front of young children dressed in drag as Miss Portugal with two giant balloons stuffed up your swimming costume and 2 clothes pegs attached to your nipples.

Each to their own.

On a more important note in if Carvoeiro wants to end up as a smaller version of Benidorm then this is surely the way to go.

First impressions are everything,in choosing where you eat ,which accomadation you choose and indeed which resort you holiday in.
For most on this forum who know CVO well it probably isnt an issue as our firsts impressions of CVO are ingrained, but for someone who hasnt been to CVO before it could be a first impression to forget.

Times are tough for a lot of CVO businesses I just dont think this particular brand of street entertainment is particularly suitable.

We live in changing times and 'events' such as you describe are all part of 'the life-mix' - not all of it suits individual taste. I have never seen the individual you have described - and imagine that if 'he' was being offensive - the GNR would have prevented him from parading around - they don't appear to have!

I think you need to allow for the Portuguese sense of humour - which is different from the British and certainly different from my Irish humour.

this "bloke" is a tool pure and simple. He was outside Hemmingways last time I saw "it" and there was a group on, two really good singers..."it" did its best to mime away in an over dramatic fashion and you could clearly see he was winding the singers up..I am all for good street entertainment but this is crap

I don't know what all the fuss is about. I saw 'it' on Saturday outside Smilers and would totally agree with CM's opinion.

I would liken 'it' to the saucy seaside postcards of 30's Britain - nothing more. Besides - the person is a Brit of that vintage and in my opinion - is doing no harm at all - other than making 'himself' look very stupid.

The person you are referring to is Brazilian Danny, he's harmless and actually a very nice man. In fact, he has been a character in Carvoeiro for more than 20 years, but don't worry, I'm sure he'll pack up his boobies and leotard once summer is over!
