...... because when Arjan decided to sell the bar we didn't know what it would become, so decided to go to our '1st reserve' venue, which we had used in the past when Anteak was closed.

Why change ask Dalcassian and curious ?

Not only the reason given by Ktee but also because no-one seemed to come to the 'Anteak'. I have lost count of the times when Gambrinus and/or myself have sat there for an hour or two alone and then moving on when we had exhausted all topics of conversation. Certainly I do not recall seeing either Dalcassian or curious there !!!

Since moving to Algar Seco we rarely have had less than ten members there - which speaks for itself.

Apart from the view (arguably the best in Carvoeiro), the easy parking and the lack of traffic fumes, the owner Joao has put himself out to attract our business. We have our special table laid ready for us, drinks are reduced to one euro for all beer, wines and soft drinks and he gives us a discount of 10% off our food bill. This means you can have a pleasant evening, in superb surroundings and on average spend around 10 euros a head for drinks and a meal.

I personally feel that when someone is prepared to work hard and make such an effort to encourage business and please us, then he should be encouraged by our attendance.

I am sorry if this sounds a bit heavy compared to my usual contributions but the question was asked and I hope I have now fully answered it and we shall see more of you trying out our new venue.

Even booked an apartment for March 06 near it and was going to visit it every Thursday night!!

Hi Joe

You could always change your booking to the Algar Seco apartments (no I do not have shares in them !!!).

Just think, you could go down to the bistro/bar every day, be at the bar first to welcome G., Kteee, Bruxelha and myself with a drink on Thursdays and, as a special bonus, walk down to the bottom of the garden, take in lungfuls of the seafresh air and look down the road to see your dream 'house on the hill'.

I have to say that I think the new owners have still got something to learn.
We arrived last sunday morning, it was pouring with rain, so what do the British do on such an occassion, visit a restaurant that can give a full english breakfast. It was about 10.30, it was open but a very worried, portugese lady said that the owners hadn't arrived but wouldn't be long",
after several frantic mobile calls, they eventually arrived but even though the notice on the wall, stated full English Breakfast, that apparently wasn't on a Sunday, as they had to get the roast potatoes on, for sunday lunch

With no apologies for keeping us waiting (never mind at least 10 customers who had given up the ghost and left) we were offered a bacon sandwich. My advice, get up earlier chaps if you want to make a go of it in Carvoeiro

I'm sure there were other places in CVO serving breakfast, even at breakfast time on a Sunday? Are you upset because it rained during your stay? You should have had brunch instead.

Guest probably meant if no full breakfast was on hand why hang around? There are other places that serve English breakfast all day.So not such a strange reply

I think you’ll find that Tricky was hanging around in the hope of getting breakfast, as a sign on the wall said “full English Breakfast”. She mentions nothing about hanging around after being told she wasn’t getting breakfast

I'm not 100% sure, but I think its pretty certain that 'Tricked' was somebody who was sat with me, complaining that we should've gone somewhere else in the first place!. I insisted on going because I wanted to give it a try under the new management! - Grumpy husbands - who'd have them
