We're getting married near Carvoeiro in September and I'm trying to find a good, characteristic restaurant for a small dinner party (we'll only be about 15 people).

Bon Bon looks pretty good but I've read lots of good reviews on Happy's. Would they accommodate a party for us? It's not formal but do you think the decor/environment is befitting?

Would appreciate your thoughts.

I would say that for a wedding Bon Bon would be the better setting - more expensive but more suitable for a wedding.

Roma would also be somewhere to consider - it is an italian restaurant on the benagil road, also quite expensive but in a nice setting.

Have a great time

Much as I love the Bon Bon, I think I would recommend Flamingo - very good food, friendly owner and fantastic outdoor garden setting around a lovely pool. I think that with all the exotic plants and romantic lighting this would make a stunning venue, whilst still being in the centre of town.

Have a great time wherever

Try Maxime I have been there many times; it's next to Happy's. A little bit more expencive than Happy's but perfect. I think they can accomodate your party.
Also Dutch owners. (John & Francien van Rijnsoever)
tel: 282 357 852; mobile 962 498 755; e-mail rest.maxime@clix.pt; they also have a web-page (will mail it to you). Will be in Carvoeiro from 7th July; I can also ask him if it's possible.

Thanks very much for the quick responses. Going to give Bon Bon, Roma, Maxime, Happy's and Flamingo a ring this weekend to try and ascertain which would be best money and venue wise.

Thanks again.

Why marry in Portugal and diner in a Dutch restaurant?
Try Casa de pao, O Cantinho, Casa Algarvia or another Portugese restaurant.

Otherwise you can try Mitz (also Dutch, same owner as Bon Bon, on Wednesdays fantastic Indonesian diner) or Bistroquet (same prices as Maxime, very good diner).

btw: do you have a photographer already, if not: see our website www.fotopix.nl, we will be in Carvoeiro in September

Lots of luck!

Restaurant/photographer

Thanks, will try these restaurants too (have no idea as to the culture or cuisine of these restaurants so it's all trial and error).

Incidentally no, we're looking for a photographer and the ones I've contacted so far onine can't help. Will check out your web site. Where are you based?

Thanks a lot.
